Mascots & Lore
While it was Dino Andrade who conceived of the SoulGeek mascots it was artist extraordinaire Izobel Freeman who brilliantly brought them to life. To Dino, the finished artwork was so beautiful that he believed it was responsible for elevating the overall site and the positive response when the site premiered in 2007.
The Mascots were first and foremost designed to visually represent couples who found each other within the three pillars or science fiction, horror and fantasy.
However, in the original SoulGeek 1.0, they also served a dual purpose directly connected to the blooming fan-fic communities of the time and whom SoulGeek openly invited.
To accomplish this, each Mascot couple had back stories written by Dino Andrade. These stories were written before the artwork was created. Izobel Freeman then crafted the art based on details from those stories (this is particularly evident with The Future Soldiers).
On a side note: though never before stated publicly, the female elf (Keh-Ahn The Green) was purposely designed to resemble Dino's late first wife, Mary Kay Bergman.
Each one of these stories ended in a cliffhanger. SoulGeek members were then invited through contests and holiday giveaways to complete the stories.
This secondary purpose of the Mascots would not be a part of SoulGeek 2.0 and unfortunately none of the member-written fan-fic endings were saved.

Planet Nations now run the galaxy with Earth Prime becoming the most powerful colonial force with numerous planets under its heavy-handed protection and with that, humans in general are not considered trustworthy or loyal. Colonial protection is maintained both politically and militarily with all armed forces integrated as “multi-specied”. In fact, many Earther Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Marines have never even set foot on Earth.
Among these forces, the Earther Rangers have become the elite of inter-planetary task-forces... expeditions, humanitarian missions, peace-keeping, hot-zone evac, disaster relief, search & rescue operations... in short, the Earther Rangers are those who excel at being dropped into total chaos already in progress...

Aridus-Gleann is equally divided between desert in the east, ending at the coastal ports of the Flaming Sea - and jungle in the west, ending at the Great River Arrow. The central boarder where the two lands meet is simply known as “The Crossing”.
For hundreds of years the desert Elves of Aridus have been at war with the jungle Elves of Gleann, each coveting at one time or another the other’s resources. The Aridus vast stoneworks and access to coastal ports and trade, or the Gleann access to fresh water dams and irrigation and the resulting agricultural empire...
