|My SOULGEEK Self:||
Love the people:) I'm working for a tech company, based in the Silicon Valley, but live in Germany. I do visit them a couple of times a year though for a week or two.
It is actually an interesting question, why I consider myself a geek:) I don't watch tons of shows or films, I almost never play video games, I don't read books or comics, I'm not into cosplay. But - if I do find time to watch a movie - stay assured it will be an action or a Sci-Fi or a Fantasy one. If I do find myself with several minutes of spare time, I might as well just browse the android app store, install and try out some game, but not for too long. I did enjoy playing Yu-Gi-Oh with my kids and spent significant time studying cards, ordering them online, trying to play online too. As I also write below - I used to read lots of Sci-Fi and Fantasy books, just don't find the time for that anymore. As "Avatar: The Last Airbender" ran on TV, it was kind of fun to watch it with half an eye, even though I was well over 30 at that time:) So I kind of do find Anime / Manga interesting. And with a Ph.D. in Maths and being a Linux kernel / Andoid native software developer and a hard-core Linux user - who'll deny me a right to call myself a geek? ;-)
|In a Nutshell|
|I'm Into:||Science Fiction, Fantasy, Table Top Gaming, Gadgets, Gizmos and Computer Stuff|
|My Other Car is:||a Starship|
|Why I love Sci-Fi, Horror, Fantasy, Animation, etc...||
I used to read and watch a lot of Sci-Fi, later Fantasy, but later it became less interesting and important to me, probably I got oversaturated :-D My feeling was like "damn, I can invent all those impossible worlds a 100 a day, this doesn't bring me a step closer to understanding the _real_ world" :) But I do still enjoy watching geeky films from time to time as time permits
|Some of my SCI-FI Favorites include:||
I used to have a 20+ volume Sci-Fi collection with lots of Ray Bradbury and others. Since the "Deathworld" by Harry Harrison is one of the books I can still remember (guys, that was 20 to 30 years ago:)) it should count to my favourites. Put "The Hunger Games" here too (the film)
|Some of my FANTASY favorites include:||
The LotR + The Hobbit of course, a few of Michael Moorcock's books too
|Some of my GAMING favorites include:||
My kids got me into tabletop gaming a bit:) I guess our all time hit is Yu-Gi-Oh, but we also enjoy other games like "The Hobbit" etc.
