   Then again, she might just be having some ‘disbelieving’ payback for all the actual lies Mentl’s apparently piled on over the years.

    Yes, especially because while an unveiling is serious, it is usually not all that solemn. Halakhically (shut it, spell-checker), all mourning periods are over at the time of the unveiling. So there will be plenty of spare bandwidth for gawking at the cousin-least-likely-to-amount-to-anything when he shows up at Tante Rachel’s unveiling with not one but two of his nafkas, neither of whom will act like dumb shiksas. I predict a yenta meltdown. There’s always that one aunt who cannot open her mouth without something incredibly-in-poor-taste dropping out.

    Lurker, an entertainment lawyer is a lawyer for the entertainment industry. They usually deal with contract negotiations between actors, directors, and other professionals and the various film houses and television networks (Paramount, Fox, etc.). Lawyers are, generally, cynical folks, given they often see the worst of people (my father certainly was), and the entertainment industry typically has a particularly cynical edge to it, given the glossy image that it presents to the world through its media.

    Charlie Sheen is an actor, the son of Martin Sheen. He’s been something of a bad boy in the media over the years, and recently got fired from his hit sitcom “Two and a Half Men” because he was doing things that he liked that didn’t provide a good public image. Look him up for more details, but what Sandy is implying here is that Mentl is sleeping with both Zona and Tula (Charlie Sheen is involved in a polyamorous relationship publicly). Mentl is reacting accordingly.

    @LurkerAbove. Charley Sheen is an actor. He’s infamous for both acting in roles and behaving in real life as if the words “responsibility” and “integrity” come from some bizarre dead alien language, and he doesn’t even have a Rosetta stone.

    Google if you want to see if I get it right, but basically that’s a lawyer who assists people who work as actors, singers, performers of any kind with contract details, to make sure the deals are fair….assuming they don’t have their own best interests first.

    @Doccer in short and simple terms they’re lawyers who shift through the contracts of actors, writers, anyone in the business and make sure they aren’t being taken for a ride.

    Entertainment Lawyers stand out because its a whole different breed of crazy when dealing with actors and the like. (Hence Charlie sheen)

    Lol. I laughed at the Charlie Sheen comment. Zona will be disappointed when she sees Sandra has left, but then she and Tula will both meet her tomorrow along with the rest of the family. Should be fun.

    AdamZero, it’s not just that performers tend towards eccentricity that makes entertainment lawyers a special breed - it’s that many producers are among the greediest, most conniving, evillest humans on earth. Some lawyers protect the rights of the former - but the most cynical, and highly paid, are the lawyers who pursue the interests of the people with the money and the power. Sadly, I speak from experience.

    Is it sibling season for web comics? Dominic Deegan had the bonds between the youngest and eldest brothers restored. (Separated by necromancy and attempted fratercide); Legostar Galactica showed the Marine Mechanic Shauna’s brother for the first time, and the sort of exchanges they have; And here in Zona-land (or Mentl-burg I suppose at the moment) we’ve got these lovable schmucks.

    @hjp, I hear you: I watched a documentary about writers in hollywood, and at how at the drop of a HAT (or any other cliche) you can get canned and replaced.

    @Ga’tor. Tomorrow (in there timeline) is the ‘unveiling’ of Mentl’s mother. It’s (from what i’ve gathered) the last stage of mourning in the Jewish faith.

    I think Sandra’s reaction to Mentl’s announcement that Zona’s sister is also present is more a reaction to Mentl’s past history (pre-Zona) of lying than anything else. There are former members of my family that, if they told me the sun was going to rise in the East tomorrow, I’d be out checking it with a compass!! It is hard to restore trust in someone who has abused that trust.

    Of course, the extra delay lets the sisters pick up some less casual clothing. We know from the scenes in Normos they both can pull it off, even if Zona thinks dressing up is silly.

    I happened to be visiting my 87 year old father last year and brought in his mail from the curb for him. As I passed him the stack, I said “looks like a letter from [my kid brother]“. The first words out of Dad’s mouth were “He probably wants money”. Jon is a 54 year old CEO who will probably be buying Dad’s next house for him.

    I’d be curious to see Zona’s and Tula’s reaction to being told that Mentyl’s sister is an “Entertainment Lawyer” by trade. The concepts are probably even more foreign to them that it is to anyone reading these comments. At least everyone reading this should understand what a lawyer is - they don’t.

    Depending on who Zona or Tula ask about what a lawyer does, they could get the wrong impression of Mentyl’s sister. She seems like a person of integrity. And I’m sure a lot of lawyers are. But the fact is that SOME “rotten apples” (corrupt, greedy types) do exist. Some follow the “ambulance chasing” and frivolous route. And SOMEBODY has to represent the scumbags and frivolous clients with a degree of unbiased professionalism. This colors the view of lawyers as a profession.
