   Ahh, yes! Feeling much better after the application of some 21st Century medicine! They are so good at alleviating the symptom but not the cause. The exact opposite of the vaunted Dr. Frankentfurter.

   Mickey? Of all the childhood nicknames he might have had, I bet Mentl wants to keep that one hidden the most.

   I’m sure I am not alone in seeing a similarity between Brother Laemul’s cat Incus with Inky, and Vito’s equally identical black cat. So now I’m positive there is a relation of some kind between Vito and brother Laemul.

   I also wonder just how severe Mentl’s drug problems were, assuming Sandy isn’t blowing them out of proportion.

   Shyster: I used to know a fair number of rock musicians and in these circles, unfortunately, only one of them was completely drug-free. In Mentl’s case the problem did not have to be very severe, and the lies were perhaps caused rather by low self-esteem and trying to cover up his failures, than hiding his habit, but it adds up.

   Yeah, if you keep hearing lies then you just start to lose trust in people and never believe what they’re saying.

   But it seems the siblings will be making some amends now. At least Mentl has his shit back together. Zona is probably the best thing to ever happen to him.

    Of course, unlike Sandra, I’d also note that this kind of a story is something I couldn’t really believe even from someone I knew to be honest, and who I trusted completely.

    Glad you’re feeling better, JED. As for Sandy, been there, done that, and I well know how she feels. You can only betray someone’s trust so many times before they completely lose faith in you. Unfortunately, it was a man I had called my son for some time. Thankfully, my biological son is both honorable and trustworthy.

    @Adam, if Michael dispatches a hulking goon in broad daylight with nothing but his magick, it will finish popping the rest of Big Sister’s fuses. And don’t forget that Zona is about to make an entrance in that Galactic Queen of Bikers number. Lil’ Shuach will be feeling under-leathered and leave in shame.

    @JED, thanks for making her an EL. her BS filters are about the best you’ll find in that vicinity without calling in the Oracle from Hollywood Station night watch (Wambaugh shoutout).

    Anybody think Inky is Rachel’s familiar (either or both Rachels)?

    Somehow, I’m not too surprised Mentl had a drug problem for a while. Disappointed, oh yes, I’m disappointed in him…but not too terribly surprised. *Sigh*

    Betcha 100% he’s completey off drugs for life, now. (Excepting alcohol.)

    A few thoughts…

    Didn’t Zona walk out the front door to get changed?
    If so, how did her clothes end up outside??

    His sister is a Laywer??? If Mentl can cast magic by music (Words).. imagine what a laywer could do… Would she be a Weapon of Mass Dictation?

    It shows she meets them from coming in from outside. my guess is she jumped a window or sometng we still don’t know yet just how big that estate is we only saw the front entrance. withthat much grassland space I wouldn’t be all that surprized to find a secound stroy or that it covers a larger area than we first thought.

    No, no, that wasn’t the front door. That was a side door. The front door looks into a paved and walled courtyard, no real grass to speak of; that’s a side door looking out onto a lawn and garden–you can see the front door (double doors, technically) standing open behind Sandy in these panels, and Sandy is looking in the direction where Zona walked off (with an admiring look of wonder), which is almost directly across from the front doors.

    Speaking of the front door . . . Am I the only one here noticing that Zona went out the front door to get this change of clothes? Did she leave them in the car? and is she in typical barbarian fashion going to change outside? That could get funny.

    Okay, apparently not the only one. She did say “new clothes” so I’m guessing she means something she bought last night rather than what she was wearing last night. Still leaves me thinking she intends to change outside though, which would be delightfully barbarian of her.

    I agree, this sentence threw me a bit. Grammatically it is a bit fail, but it is his sister talking to him casually, not something that’s being peer reviewed for an english paper. Maybe that’s just how she talks.

    on the inky attack sentence, as an English major, it IS an archaic manner of construction, but given that she IS a lawyer, let’s consider she’s might speak in odd arrangements just to change up, her dialogue.

    I mean if you have to speak in legal-ese 9-5 what are you gonna do in your spare time?

    Ok to all and sundry zona came in the house from a side door from the pool area this means that she probably was in either a guest house outside of the main estate or servants quarters which is more likely since the doorbell rang in the room. If its servant quarters it could have both an inside access door and an outside entrance. So the house probably belongs to Mentl’s Dad because Sandra stays here sometimes but does not feel like its hers be cause she rang the doorbell instead of walking in

    @Dr. Z, “new clothes” refers to the black outfit she wore at the clubs. Zona lives life on the road and doesn’t pack that many changes (although a lot of her outfits do not take up much room in her pack. Thanks, JED!). She has more back in the Tribe, but she came to SoCal from the road, so anything she hasn’t worn 2 dozen times is going to be “new”. Imelda Marcos, she ain’t.

    1st panel; Psychic Powers FAIL! So we know Mentl hasn’t developed any. Yet.

    As to his drug problem, I’m not surprised or disappointed - in the early comic pages Mentl very clearly laid out what a loser he’d been, and remember he’d been HOMELESS before coming to Erogenia. That’s just the kind of thing a serious drug problem would do to a guy, especially if he’d been cut off by his family for refusing to get help for it.
