I’m probably the only one to notice this - what with a giant blond goddess in the panel - but if we thought Mentl had money based on the house, just look at the land out the back door! That’s a lot of back yard - especially for the area he lives in!
Now, let’s see how Sandy gets out of this!

This could be Mount Olympus or Coldwater Canyon, or one of those cliff roads that go through Glendale. The property isn’t as big as it looks because most of that view is across the arroyo and belongs to someone else.

I think Sandy’s going to be too busy picking her lower jaw up off the floor to say anything stupid, at least for a minute or so. Once she recovers however, I can see her accusing Mentl of hiring a tall blonde hooker just to gobsmack her - and then regretting the accusation a moment later.

JED, I’m with Semuel, Zona’s thighs and knees look sort of off. Not fitting with the rest of her perfection. Gotta concur with the one-track minds whose eyes were drawn to the panties as we know from Hot Stuff that Zona “lets her garden grow”. The rest of us one-track minds were of course looking higher … at the cat, right! The cat!
As to how this could go …Consider the last talk Zona had with her own mother about decorum and control, but allow for the fact that she has succeeded in her quest and gotten her itches nicely scratched and is kind of mellow.

…I like the subtle details with Mentl in the first two panels. We know Sandy’s shifting as she speaks and reacting to Zona’s approach, but a lot of artists would, well, “save time” *coughbelazycough* and not adjust Mentl’s position. But his head is tipped his shoulder is up and his arm tilting forward, as if he’s raising a finger to point at his sister, but it’s below the edge of the camera view.

Actually, Alphas tend to be extremely aware of new superior Alphas. All of Sandy’s senses are screaming “RUN!”. Add up the clues: No perfume, just pheremones that say “Your brother rocks my world”, no makeup, no self-consciousness in a fairly drafty outfit, no dominant stance, none needed.
The closest approximation I can make that Sandy would acknowledge is the late actor Robert Mitchum: He projected such effortless sensuality and strength that men and women knew he had no need to be assertive about his alpha-ness. And the key point: he made even making it look easy, look easy.

In my younger days, back in 79′ I had the occasion to be walking out a friend’s bathroom. She had let me used the shower and I was wearing only a towel. I asked her to hand me my pants as I had left my clean ones outside the bathroom. She was at the door listening to a bf wannabe who’s epic line was “I mean, who else would want you?” At this time he was laughing at her “little attempt at making him jealous” by pretending she had had someone over. Me, in my prime, full head of hair, wearing nothing but a towel asking if she had seen my pants. Yeah, his face was kinda like Sandy’s as she shut the door.
As a matter of fact, she was a nice Jewish girl named Sandra, I was late for work that day, and smile whenever I think of it.

If Mentl told Zona that his mother passed on? I’m guessing that Zona will show Sandra some heartfelt sympathy, and that will thaw Sandra’s ice. I think part of Sandra’s issue is that she’s grieving and by thinking that Mentl is not taking the death seriously, somehow feels misunderstood and alienated from her brother.

I know why Mentl wasn’t thrown into a rubber room by his family.
If my sister were to come to me and tell me–with the kind of expressions and earnest tones that Mentl surely would’ve used–that she’d been swept off to some fantasy land…I’d not have her committed. Certainly not right away. I’d evaluate how she’s treating all the other areas of her life, first. If she “came bacK” with more maturity and so forth, then I’d definitely not have her committed. I might not believe her, but if she believed something so strongly enough that it makes her a better person…who am I to judge?
Because, to be quite honest, people who have had “deeply moving religious experiences” (I put this in quotes not to mock this sort of thing–because I have had a couple of those myself–but rather to show it is an equivalent stand-in for “traveled to exotic alternate realities”) aren’t necessarily insane. IN fact, they can be quite sane, stable, and productive members of society.
…To be absolutely fair, they can also turn out to be total whackos in need of a heavily padded room. But when you love a family member, you tend to be more lenient and more willing to wait-and-see, to give that family member a chance to show whether they’re lying through their teeth, they really have changed for the better, or they’ve changed for the worse and need serious help.
That, and it’s also not quite so easy to get someone thrown in a rubber room as it used to be. Particularly when they check out on all other accounts as quite sane and stable.

(To be completely, completely honest, if my sister came to me, told me she’d been swept off to an alternate reality and picked up a totally hawt BF, and in all ways was acting stable, sane, and more mature than when she’d left…I’d be horridly envious. Jed if u can here crackeling when u breath or trying to sleep, or if u cough up blood or brown or yellow spit, then see your doctor. If its blood then right now is best to see doc or ER.
lay on bed hang head and chest over side and put bowel below face. Cough like crazy and spit it out.
If u have a sore throat then gargle with salt water and wrap your neck in a scarf or use a nice bippy.
Also run hot water in sink and hang your head over it with a big towel covering your head and sink. Breathe deep and cough. Blow nose real good and keep blowing your sinuses alot because snot runs down the back of your throat and can get into your lungs when breathing. Keep it out.

It certainly is true that your health is more important than this webcomic. Given earlier things you’ve noted about your “day job”, I’m prepared for the day when, on those weeks where you don’t have a bad cold, the strip updates once a week, on Sunday night.
Ultimately, that’s what it might come to, because after a full day’s work, you need to be able to relax, even if you might have fun spending a little time working on the comic.
