Can’t concentrate.

Posted by JED at November 6th, 2012

Sorry.  Can’t finish the page tonight.   Election night here in the US.

Can barely sit still.

Hope every American voted, whoever you voted for.

In CA there’s still a couple hours left to vote.

And I fervently hope NOT every American voted, not even just the implied adult, legal voters.

Seriously, if you haven’t taken the time to be educated about the candidates, please don’t vote, either way. Such voters are what make elections into popularity contests. This is a particularly dumb way to run a country.

It’s over. The horrible, divisive campaign which made me feel like the child in an abusive marriage — is finally over. Thank the gods.

Yet oddly, it ended in a conciliatory note. Romney’s concession speech was gracious, and unlike the audience for the McCain campaign four years ago, the audience was accepting.

I may be being too optimistic, but perhaps, this will start the healing process: Obama promising to meet with Governor Romney afterwards, and the gracious response from Romney at the end of a long and bitter campaign.

But forget about the campaign. I’m just waiting for the next installment of what has become my favorite online comic. :)

I suggest a write-in-to-your-representative/senator campaign. Tell them, “Okay, it’s over and done with. Now please do your job, represent ALL the people in your districts, and work toward making this country a better place. Stop trying to block stuff just because it’s being proposed by ‘the other side’ and actually, y’know, DO YOUR JOB. Make good laws that benefit the majority of All Americans. Thank you.”

Amen to that, Jean. It sounds like a grand idea.

Wonderful idea. Read ‘The Peter Principle’ to find out why it isn’t going to work.

Right now, I’d settle for them extending the tax cuts, since my rate will nearly double if they don’t.

Heh, it was spoiled long before the night was over…as soon as certain areas started having “delays” in reporting their vote totals.
