   (Mind you, I think Tula will be alright, going off with a “stranger” tonight. Because if he tries anything on her, he’ll have to deal with a woman who can wield a fist, a sword, a dagger, or even a magic spell with ease. (I for one don’t believe Tula has lost a single whit of her powers, even if Zona’s bracers have turned invisible. This is Tula we’re talkin’ about here.)

   We also know they’ll have to go back to Nan’s shop anyway to pick up the ladies’ weapons, and possibly use some of Mentl’s cash to pay for their clothes, reclaim their cloaks, etc. Personally, I think it’d be a nice touch of cha-balancing, because Mentl was dependent on the ladies for fresh clothing, supplies, etc (okay okay, and some dead guys the Urtts were going to cook and eat in the very first scene, plus some nice Kivalian loaner garb, so on and so forth) in their world. Here, he’s the one with the resources, so it makes balancing sense.

   That, plus he’s a mensch and would probably offer to pay anyway.

    And just like that, Zona and Mentl have the place to themselves tonight, assuming that Mentl doesn’t have roommates.
    And even if he did, going without for a year after spending months on end with Zona, Mentl might just not care.

    I’m not sure I find Mentl’s response to be believable. He and Zona were just discussing whether or not Tula would be having sex tonight a few ‘moments’ ago, so I doubt he would ask ‘why’. I can imagine him being a tiny bit confused over ’self-own’, but I think hearing it would be less confusing than reading it.

    I agree that Tula can take care of herself against any kind of physical trouble she might get into in Skip isn’t as nice as he seems. However, I do hope he is gentleman enough (or cautious enough for himself) to insist on protection. I doubt the ladies had time for that kind of discussion before going out. And there are dangers to unprotected sex in this world that Tula & Zona would have no idea about. I would hope that Mentl might take Tula aside for a moment for a warning.
