Boys, boys, boys! WHOSE RULES are you playing by THIS time??

*facepalm* on standby, just in case…

  2. LorannaPyrel
    August 3rd, 2010 at 10:15 pm

That’s easy. Since the lovely lady who brought forth the board is Erogonian, we’re obviously playing by Erogonian rules, to honor her ability to keep a straight face duing all of this ^_^

…Well, to keep from totally cracking up at least, and for balancing out the green of Tor’s tunic with her fine purple top. Little things like this are important in balancing the cha, y’know ;)

I KNEW IT!!! I KNEW it’d be settled by another game of the type they were arguing about!! Fisticuffs? Pffft-that would’ve settled nothing.

Of course Jean has a point about them not seeming to have settled on the exact RULES, so this could STILL end up a mess….

    August 3rd, 2010 at 11:01 pm

Wow. I LOVE panel four and her face! Hahaha. She is loving this!

    August 3rd, 2010 at 11:28 pm

Heheheheh. Oh, lovely. Now, which set of rules are they using?

  6. Freelance
    August 4th, 2010 at 12:01 am

Yeah, as everybody has said, I *hope* somebody will ask to get a clarification. Because this is going to be embarassing if they end up playing the opposite rules again… only inversed so that they’re both playing by their hone nation’s style this time around.

  7. Blade
    August 4th, 2010 at 12:06 am

Something tells me they go through this every time they meet as an excuse to play the game.

    August 4th, 2010 at 12:10 am

No way would Tethik of Dell be dumb enough not to settle the rules beforehand.

Also, John: I received my comic book, and I am SOOO happy! (I don’t live very far from you.)
However, the little link you supplied for us pre-ordering people doesn’t seem to lead anywhere.

    Thanks!

On creepiness: The “I don’t live very far from you” was meant to explain why I got the comic book already.

It’s certainly not because I plan to sneak into your house in the dead of night and steal your notes on the rest of the story…
    Or anything creepy like that.

    ROFL.

That’s all I have to say this time.

  11. Grey
    August 4th, 2010 at 2:53 am

CRAP! I just lost five bucks.

I bet my sister that they were going to fight it out. She said they were going to settle it by playing the game.

  12. AdamZero
    August 4th, 2010 at 3:20 am

It’s a matter of settling that cha, so of COURSE they’re going to play by Erogenia rules.

  13. Sage
    August 4th, 2010 at 4:01 am

That face, that face says plainly, “You’re both idiots. But you’re both entertaining idiots, and one of you is my idiot.”

  14. JR
    August 4th, 2010 at 4:05 am

@Jean, Look at Etearia’s (our Lady in Green) face & body language in the last panel. Looks to me that “Boys, boys, boys! WHOSE RULES are you playing by THIS time??” is EXACTLY what she is thinking.

  15. JR
    August 4th, 2010 at 4:09 am

Heh, or could easily be what Sage just wrote. :-)

  16. Gremalkin
    August 4th, 2010 at 4:24 am

This is a disaster in the making.
    I approve, carry on !

  17. Lora
    August 4th, 2010 at 4:44 am

*spittlelaugh* Hahaha! Yelling turns strait into sitting across each other looking intendly at the game. ;)

I just love the expression on Tor’s niece’s face. But shouldn’t they settle the rules?

  18. The MacNut
    August 4th, 2010 at 5:07 am

That’s what we’re’s all wondering Lora-but I think they just DID settle the rules. I think that’s what the whole picking the colors and the starting posture (attack/defend) was all about.

Perhaps the color and posture you choose depends on the rules you’re playing by…least I hope so. Otherwise they might as well just slug it out.

  20. Sheela

They are *so* gonna get it on again. :D

  21. MaryLynne
    August 4th, 2010 at 6:58 am

“However, the little link you supplied for us pre-ordering people doesn’t seem to lead anywhere.”

Wait, we get to pre-order people? I didn’t see that! I thought it was for the books. I want to pre-order a person. How do I do that? I’d like a tall one, please.

  22. Black Ethel
    August 4th, 2010 at 8:25 am

    Oooh! Pre-order people?
Can I get that hairy guy from the last panel???
    :-D

  23. Uhl
    August 4th, 2010 at 8:45 am

The king’s eyes, they are a glowin’!

  24. Lictre
    August 4th, 2010 at 10:15 am

Tor has refused Tethik hospitality this time, so there is reason to consider the rules question settled in favor of Erogenian rules.

  25. zaraya
    August 4th, 2010 at 12:17 pm

So they’re playing Tuntach, which looks a lot like THUD!

Is Terry Pratchett popular in Erogenia, Kivalia and the other human(ish) lands?

  26. firegoat
    August 4th, 2010 at 12:26 pm

Will they use the nuke rules we all adapted for use in playing Risk to keep the game from taking 3 hours? :P

  27. KarateCowboy

the next time I play chess I will wear chain maile

It’s the board game…. for the EXTREEEEEEEEEMEEEEEEE!!!

  29. TheLastGarou
    August 5th, 2010 at 2:18 am

And here was I thinking, “NERD FIGHT!”

    …Wait, it still is! Yay!

Blade’s explanation (above) is by far the most entertaining reason why they’re acting this way, and well within the bounds of what I currently perceive in these two characters. Given the facial expressions of the lady (already) supplying them with the game board almost before her King snapped his fingers, this is a very plausible possibility. Bravo!

Jean - There is one more page to this coming up tomorrow. Have your facepalm ready, though we hope you won’t need it.

LorannaPyrel - Well, there seems to be some confusion about which set of rules is more courteous. And, chivalrous as he is, Tethik’s head is not turned by a lady’s pretty face. The hairy attendant, though …

The MacNut - “Yes, you’re very smart. Now, shut up.” ;) And also, I imagine that even Tor may be a bit too old to get into a physical confrontation over something like this if he doesn’t have to. He may be eyeing how Tethik aced Donnil and saying to himself, “Hm … he still seems in pretty good shape. Do I want to get into it? hm…”

Dromin - Etearia is the king’s right hand in court, but she also loves her uncle and is under no illusions about his foibles.

Aust - Hmm. Wonder, wonder, wonder …

Freelance - Yes, that *would* be an embarassing situation, eh? Creative, though.

Blade - Well, while that is possible I think that they wouldn’t wait five years to resolve it if that were the case. :)

Moox - Hope all is well, now, and the link works! And Tethik is a smart guy. But some of the best stories are where one can invent a plausible reason why someone who is normally very smart does something mind-bendingly dumb. Just saying. And no, I didn’t even think of anything negatively creepy. L.A. is a huge, huge, huge place with millions of people. Stands to reason at least one of Zona’s fans would live in the area.

The Old Hack - The storyteller nods in appreciation.

Grey - Well, all I can say is that all the women in *my* life are smarter than I am. I assume it’s generally the same for everyone else.

Adamzero - Oh, well, there you go. :)

Sage - Something like that, indeed. :)

    JR - Not mutually exclusive.;)

Gremalkin - A little disaster now and then is treasured by the wisest men. =D

Lora - Yes, I suppose they should. How often do we live by what we *should* do?

TheMacNut - No, I’m afraid there you assume too much. Those choices are simply akin to choosing black or white in chess, or whether you want the race car or the top hat in Monopoly. There has been no mention yet of which set of rules they will be playing by.

Fred - Ah … and here I lost all my marbles years ago.

Sheela - Right there on the table, eh? =D

MaryLynne - Actually, soon you might be able to. I am considering making static 3D models of custom RPG PCs as well as some of the COZ characters in .obj format. They could be viewed by a number of free 3D object viewers, or in DAZ Studio or Blender - all completely free software downloads. The characters themselves would have to be unposable with no morphs, and would be available for donation. I’ve been experimenting with it, and it seems pretty doable, though the result is a very big file, indeed.

BlackEthel - Calm down, now. When I get him ready, I’ll let you know.

Uhl - That’s just my special “Star Trek Lighting Special” to make it all more dramatic.

Lictre - Nope. It is not yet settled as of this page.

zaraya - Pratchett is very popular in my house, if not in Erogenia or Kivalia. And “THUD” is a wonderful concept, which Pratchett never made into a playable game, but a group of his fans absolutely did. Tunach has a couple of things in common with Thud, and is, in part, inspired by it.

firegoat - No. The game can, potentially, go on for days. They take potty breaks, though.

KarateCowboy - This will then prove how badass of a chess master you are, eh? :)

    Hevaess - Believe it.

    TheLastGarou - Oh, please! B-)

Danek Jovax - Possible, but unlikely, as I said above. Not that this type of nonsense isn’t common between them, or from Tor in general. It’s just unlikely that they would wait 5 years.

…..you, my dear man, are so full of win right now. This is just hilarious beyond measure :) 5 years they have been arguing over a game, and now they shall finish it with the same game? hehe, freaking win.
