Really, this guy just needs to just… TO THE PAIN!!!
June 3rd, 2010 at 12:15 am
Ah. I see our dear friend the Prince hasn’t grown any more intelligent since last we saw him. I admit, this does not surprise me.
What _would_ surprise me is if he survives for very much longer. He has no idea of what his mother is capable of, and last we saw her, she had more or less decided to take care of him because of his idiocy.
June 3rd, 2010 at 12:23 am
XD Cracks me up lol *SHUT UP!* LOL, made my day. Great page Jed ^_^ meow
June 3rd, 2010 at 12:27 am
HA HA HA! Ahh, the thought processes of the Megalomaniac! What an excellent transition. Now to see how the Queen is doing. Thank you JED for a wonderful insight to our resident comic relief.
June 3rd, 2010 at 12:28 am
Do you suppose this guard can keep a straight face better than the Roman guards in “The Life of Brian” in the “Bigus Dickus” skit? (”He has a wife, you know…”) His life might depend on it.
June 3rd, 2010 at 12:41 am
I’m with Hack. No way Maldik is going to survive either his co-conspirators or his mother much longer.
However, I frankly would love to see Tula have a crack at him. Acerbic wit and gymnastic fireballs for all!
June 3rd, 2010 at 12:47 am
@ Lebbrin: The thought processes of the incompetent megalomaniac without a CLUE.
@ Old Hack: Ah, but she also knows she needs to save him, at least until Ipola can have a crack at him. (He did conspire to kill her daughters, Mentl, and betray the sacred treaty to the very beings the treaty is designed to protect against)
June 3rd, 2010 at 2:12 am
Ah, yes, the imbecilic dufus-inna-crown is back… *eagerly awaits new developments*
Btw, JED, are you going to put the incentive pages into the narrative? (pleeeeeeeaaaase?) 8D
June 3rd, 2010 at 2:48 am
How so very funny it would be if, upon entering the jail cell, Maldik discovered that it was devoid of all content except for a letter from his Mother, which perfectly rebutted his best attempt at a biting put down.
Of course, I trust we would see something as important as the Queen’s escape on screen, so I doubt this will come to pass. But oh the mental image! Maybe JED can work that in as a bad dream on Maldik’s part somewhere … nah
Still, I’ve been dying to see what the Queen’s been up to, so yay for this next scene! After such a happy time with the Moon Tribe I’m good and ready to see the intrigues of court politics … or the not-so-intrigues of Maldik’s politics.

Made me crack a grin. Hilarious!
Excellent writing, as always.
Oh and I love that guard.
Moox
June 3rd, 2010 at 4:30 am
Ah, the Kivalian idiot king returns-still as much an idiot as ever. I look forward to seeing how his mother puts him BACK in his place.
June 3rd, 2010 at 4:34 am
While his stupidity amuses me i hope he gets whats coming too him reeeeeeeeal soon. Other then that I love the huge display of insecurity right in front of the guard followed by the shut up like the man said something. xD
June 3rd, 2010 at 5:00 am
She is way out of his league, and i to think that our peabrain prince will bite the dust soon. Also unexpected switch of location and plot. Great work JED, it’s things like this that keeps us on out toes.
June 3rd, 2010 at 7:46 am
Is it just me, or does he in some ways resemble a ventriloquist’s puppet? It seems that way to me because of his mouth and jawline. Either way, it’s hilarious!
June 3rd, 2010 at 8:44 am
@midnightwolf Rugen was a lot more trustworthy than Gorshash. Small Dick is not even a great hunter. But JED has promised he lives, so he will definitely lose big. good times. I do note that Good Dick’s crusade to Greymouth will take him near the lands of the Sun Tribe. If Zona makes him feel insecure, how will he react to Zonn?
@Karyl - that is awesome, I’ve been calling him Alvin for the chipmunk cheeks, but Mortimer Snerd is better!
June 3rd, 2010 at 9:16 am
hmmm, with this level of stupid….I see an evil priest….you know who…telling a old princey here that he has reports of some Barbarian tribes that are planing on mounting an assault to de-throne him….but no worries this priest knows of caves that have magical powers. power that render tribal magics useless….and there is one such cave rich in iron ore….if the prince were to have weapons and armor crafted from such ore…….cuts that don’t heal…..armor that renders its wear immune magic based attacks…….yeah this prince would fall for that hook line and sinker……but prince why risk your own troops, give my people the weapons and armor and we will destroy them for you, (and then you right afterwords)…….yeah I could see that happening with this level headed prince lapping up every word and thinking it was his idea in fact.
June 3rd, 2010 at 3:11 pm
Mmmmm poor lad , does seem top have a mother complex doesn’t he?
June 3rd, 2010 at 4:11 pm
Ha! Yes we do all do it. Also love that guard kinda hope he becomes a character. Name that guard!
June 3rd, 2010 at 5:34 pm
heh, im just waitin for the moment he either learns that zona is alive and well or when she shows up in the palace . now THAT is going to be a riot.
June 3rd, 2010 at 6:32 pm
And what happens, Prince Charming, when your mother departs from your script?
June 3rd, 2010 at 7:49 pm
i do not envy that guard, i would be in convulsions by now, though i may escape the torturous death that probably will occur when he finds out his mother is escaped. wonderful script JE.
@incestuswetrust Who is “Good Dick?” Our friend the duke?
June 3rd, 2010 at 9:41 pm
Love the subscript: “You know you do it, we all do”
Tsk…have to rehearse my opening line…something witty but not trite…oh dear, I’ll look like a total dweeb….
June 3rd, 2010 at 10:41 pm
Hmm… I think this guy may deserve a Darwin. If you die because you were stupid enough to trust something that thinks of you the way we think of cows, that counts as removing yourself from the gene pool to the good of mankind, right?
June 3rd, 2010 at 10:49 pm
@ICEKAT
Maldik’s brother is named “Gudik.” Think about it for a minute.
June 4th, 2010 at 5:09 am
Hahaha. Maldik’s little monologue is not gonna go as planned when our dear queen start speaking.
And yes, of course we do it. Speaking to myself is one of my passtimes as I live alone, though I don’t always speak out loud.
June 4th, 2010 at 7:14 am
@Raven Exactement, mon ami. And in the ref to the Sun Tribe I was referring to Prince Small Dick not King Good Dick by “him”. Talk about parents who want to raise a son with issues … Even if he had been simply Lord Maldik, that’s still an automatic slamdunk for Slytherin House. *grins*
June 4th, 2010 at 7:51 am
Alas, Aust, idiots like Maldik have a baaaad habit of dragging several others–many of them innocents–down to Hell down alongside his type.
Lora, I’m a writer. I talk to myself/my characters ALL the time. (Good thing I do live alone now, lol; I used to unsettle my family, discussing/arguing with my creations, muahahah.)
June 4th, 2010 at 9:02 am
Y’know, it’s amazing, not only how stupid, but how REPUGNANT you make the Prince. He really is revolting.
Good job!!!
June 4th, 2010 at 11:34 am
midnightwolf - Oh, what Maldik needs. The need.
The Old Hack - He survives. For awhile. He’s going to have some help.
zangoules - This scene wasn’t even in the original script. Actually, it was one of those times when the character wrote it himself, and he cracked ME up.
Lebbrin - You’re very welcome. Keep watching.
SaumraiDemonPuppy - He’s one of the elite royal guards - the ones in black and blue. Like the guards at Buckingham Palace, he’s got iron discipline, especially for this kind of thing.
Gemma - Well, keep watching. Tula and Maldik do meet - far down the line, but it is an interesting scene.
AdamZero - Wow. That does sound kind of bad. Yeah, once Ipola gets the full story, there would be a world of hurt coming his way, you’d think.
Jean - Just stay tuned. New page Friday night. And I’m not sure what you mean by put them into the narrative? If you mean the “morning after” pages, then yes, when I publish that part of the story, I certainly will.
LorannaPyrel - Change of scene, change of mood, indeed. And on Friday you shall certainly see what is behind that door he’s standing in front of.
Moox - That was my intent.
The MacNut - He’s not an idiot king, yet. He’s an idiot prince regent. Get it right.
NahktiChaos - What follows will certainly be … interesting, we hopes. Suffice to say that this is *not* a functional family relationship.
Gremalkin - “Always like to keep my audience rivetted.” - Sherrif Bart <]:)
Karyl - Okay, I wasn’t going for that, but I suppose he does have a kind of Jerry Mahoney vibe going for him.
InCestusWeTrust - Yes, he lives for now. And he doesn’t so much trust Gorshash as underestimate him and think that he will be the one to double-cross Gorshash. At least that’s how I see it. My characters have begun to surprise me. Perhaps he will surprise you, too.
meltman - It’s something like that, but also not. hehehehehe …
warnie - Oh, he has Oedipal problems beyond the dreams of psychoanalysis. Just watch.
Someguy - I have no name for him, yet. Funny how one line can make a character.
cose66 - Oh, it is, it is. But also, it isn’t. But it doesn’t come for some time, yet.
Fatuncle - We go back to business as usual, I guess.
ICEKAT - Thanks! And, as I said, he deals with this guy’s particular crazy all the time.
Elfguy - Yes. That’s another one that just wrote itself.
Aust - He’s not really suited for this game, I’m afraid.
Inquisitive Raven - It was completely subconscious. Not saying it isn’t there, just saying it wasn’t planned.
Lora - That was what made it so funny to me.
Black Ethel - He has characteristics that I have taken from real people I have been. I mean, known.
June 4th, 2010 at 1:05 pm
I honestly feel very little for the guy except pity right now. Is that wrong?
June 5th, 2010 at 12:11 am
A buffoon in power is even more dangerous when people don’t take him seriously. I think the Queen is playing around with him and not realizing how stupid Maldik is for doing a secret alliance with the Urtts.
June 5th, 2010 at 12:12 am
Oops. If she finds out and in time. I see bad things in store for her kingdom.
June 9th, 2010 at 7:08 pm
Oooh, is this the reason, Jean? Well, then I just got an ‘excuse’ to talk to myself frequently; my mind is always making up stories, and I’m just glad I don’t sleeptalk ’cause I would probably tell the wierdest stories.
He he, I noticed friday(but didn’t have the time for an extra comment) that the guard say ‘highness’, not ‘majesty’. You’re not majesty yet, little Maldik.
