   Nyx, his hair is long…mostly. It’s just that the wisps up front are shorter, so when the rest is pulled back, the way they hang down like long bangs makes his hair look short. Remember the vote incentive of him singing “Hair” from the musical? This is how he’s enchanted his hair to grow long and glorious, lol…or at least how Mentl imagines his hair should look when singing that song…

   I know I am probably a minority of one, but it has been a LONG TIME it seems since I saw anything with green skin get it’s head taken off.
   Your quality stays good, and I am grateful for that.
   Your writing is good, and I am grateful for that as well.
   But there is this whole plot thing outstanding that seems like it has been frozen in stone for a very. Long. Time.

   Just saying.

   it’s the webcomic format. JED being able to produce only a couple of pages a week can make things really seem to drag along sometimes. He’s gonna get back to the Urrts, count on that. It’s just gonna take awhile…

   As for this page, I agree, very well done, though some parts are probably NFSW! And yeah, why would Mentl want to go home? He went from living in his car to being welcomed into a kingdom almost straight out of a fantasy novel, PLUS he’s sharing a bed with one of the princesses of that fantasy kingdom. I wouldn’t want to go back home either.

   Waking up back in his car would be the ultimate nightmare for Mentl at this point. The only thing worse, maybe, would be waking up back at Ginsha’s mercy.

    I agree with the nut, he is right in this chase… wait does that make this a nutcase? Anyway, slaying Urtt is nice; but what about reason? There has to be an underlying reason for Mentl to fight them and to become better at focusing his magic. His love for Zona will give him that, so this is an important part of the big picture. However, i feel like it will take forever before he is confronted by the queen. Then again, i do think the wait will be worth it. So take all the time you feel is needed JED !

    Hmm, yeah and the queen now has added incentive to confront Mentl now that she’s felt his power first hand. Or perhaps, his power has mellowed her out so she’s less likely to confront him? I feel like it could go either way at this point.

    yeah but if you look at the upper left pic up him on this page there IS NO long part to his hair… and it shows the whole back of his head… and there isnt any evidence for any hair to be forward over his shoulder either… he simply doesnt have the longer hair in that view of him and he DOES in the others(or you cant see to tell the difference) … thats the kind of thing i was pointing out… page-359 also seems to have him with shorter hair…

    You know MistressNyx at first I thought that was the other bard. Since the hair looked kinda gray to me. But after checking the previous page and finding out the other bard was bare chested I believe you’re right. Unless the hair tail thing we see in the rest of the panels was over his shoulder for a minute, which would be weird, it seems to have disappeared. How odd.

    datatroll - I do get it, but I just want you to be patient for a little bit. the perception of slow pacing is largely due to the forced production schedule that guys like me who do this as amateurs have to follow. When you read it all at a go, I think it stands up.

    The MacNut - It’s his dad’s old 1973 Dodge Coronet, with a 318 V8. Big-ass roomy backseat for a skinny little guy to occupy. You may ask, how do I have such intimate knowledge of such things? Well may you ask.

    @JED: Not if he just wakes up, a’la Dorothy in MGM’s Wizard of Oz, and renders the whole storyline a dream.

    Get blasted there by an enemy? Fine. Get sent there by his own screw-up? Also fine.

    But not if he just wakes up and goes “Gee, it was aaaaaall a dream…” That sucked. Not only was it not what Baum had written (Oz was a real place), it also meant that all her effort, all her pain, all her joys and heartaches… Were nothing. Didn’t happen. Which also meant that all the emotional investment the viewers had in the movie was rendered moot, because she was never in any danger, she was only dreamng. Sucked.

    To be clear, I’m not saying WOULD make it all a dream. I was responding to Kaine, and saying that I damn well hope you don’t, because I would hate it. If it’s NOT a dream, we know he can get back, somehow. After all, he got there in the first place, and so did Vito. That means that in his version of California, magic works (though, clearly, it’s not something everyone can do).

    Jim Farris - I’m glad you guys don’t have an edit function. this is funnier. After all, you get to point out all MY mistakes, eh?

    Anyway, no, it isn’t “all a dream.” I agree, that was kind of a Hollywood copout. I promise you, in this story, Mentl really did find an extraordinary book, and really did wind up in an alternate dimension, where Zona saved his hash and his natural magickal gifts began to manifest themselves. This has all really happened to Mrs Levy’s youngest child Michael, aka, Mentl. Now, what he does with it after that is definitely up to him.

    Also its the first time mentl has acknowledged , at least to my mind , that he truly thinks of this as Home.
    Hes become more comfortable , with zona and E rognia in general.Mentioned on mumerous occasions he loves it here etc , but this statement has a ringing sense of ‘yep found my niche in life , type of thing.’

    I hate it when characters make statements like that. Now I (and lots of other people, judging by the comments) are going to be constantly waiting for the shoe to drop, gun to fire, volcano to erupt, jedi to fall into a molten pit, insert your favorite ’something’s pending’ metaphor. And “Now, now - would I do that?” doesn’t help in the slightest. Heard it from too many used car salesmen to remotely trust it.

    Ah well, judging by this page, at least Mentl’ll have some good memories when he’s back in San Berdoo.

    @Raoul: of COURSE the other shoe is going to drop! Wouldn’t be a story if it didn’t, it’d just be “life”. So, yeah, something’s gonna happen to upset Mentl’s little applecart. Most likely the most immediate shoe is going to be the impending confrontation with the Queen and priestess, where the very integrity of Zona’s love for him will be questioned, and questioned HARD.

    Ooh, ooh, I think I know what the other shoe will be but I will dispell its possibility of occurring by voicing my concerns out loud!

    I bet Mentl will eventually have to/be FORCED to return to his world during a period of epic magical strugglings, and he will beset himself with panic trying to find a way back to help Zona and other comrade-in-arms in a world that doesn’t have any magic in it… or does it? =D
