Nice… setting things up for Zonn’s return from the Sun Tribe??
May 6th, 2010 at 12:49 am
Great tale Jed, I’m REALLY looking forward to what comes next… damn my not being able to time travel T_T
May 6th, 2010 at 1:15 am
Swell Rill nice bardic paceing, gives us just A taste of whats to come!
May 6th, 2010 at 3:02 am
This has really made me curious on whats to come to
Hopefully a twist of epic proportions !
May 6th, 2010 at 3:13 am
I know this may come off as a bit odd… But that little harp is just the cutest thing I’ve ever seen!
….
I’m serious. That face is just adorable. I could see that coming alive and being the bubbly little mascot/pet/familiar that somehow saves the day by being so damn cute it just wins!
May 6th, 2010 at 4:11 am
Hmm. Suddenly I wonder — is this the first time anyone ever mentioned Zonn while Mentl was around? Maybe I had better archive crawl and check. (An excuse to archive crawl, YAY!)
May 6th, 2010 at 4:49 am
Storytime!
Looks like Tula and Boric has just joined the ‘party’ and Mentl is resting against the bars to the fire? (I hope just, ’cause that would get very warm very quickly).
May 6th, 2010 at 6:49 am
And now a sketch with lyrics? ‘Kay.
I want the harpist’s beer mug-tankard thing.
May 6th, 2010 at 7:05 am
Lora- Looks to me like he’s propped up on one arm, near the fire. Not leaning against the bar.
Kosetsu- I’m not sure this is a sketch. Looks like it’s later in the party.
AdamZero- I’m not sure I agree on it coming to life, but the harp is AWESOME.
…As is the rest of the page.
I wonder what JE’s doing for my birthday? Hm, maybe a Friday page with his usual levels of awesome? That’d be cool.
May 6th, 2010 at 8:15 am
I also love that cute little harp - but with it’s eyes looking only half open, it appears rather ’sly’. IF it came to life I think it would be a bit of a trouble-maker.
May 6th, 2010 at 9:33 am
Just so long as Grendel doesn’t show up…
May 6th, 2010 at 11:39 am
Ahhhh a subtle foreshadowing of events yet to pass.
May 6th, 2010 at 12:31 pm
Lebbrin - It’s a setup for something, I will say that.
zangoules - When you manage that, you need to teach me the same trick.
Ice Raven - And a taste also of what’s gone before, nu?
Gremalkin - Dunno about that - but it should at least be entertaining.
AdamZero - It’s the creation of an obviously very talented artist called Ravnheart. Got it from DAZ3D. It was part of a dragon-themed set. I just couldn’t go with a conventional harp, especially since we’d already established that the Kivalians play them. Not that an Erogenian couldn’t or wouldn’t, but I imagined that the Erogenian bards each actually make their own instruments as part of their apprenticeship. And so this has the look of something individual and personal. Not to mention, yes, a little magickal.
The Old Hack - Off the top of my head, I believe it is - on screen. Regardless, Zona has talked about her father, and other Erogenians they’ve met along the way have, as well. One of the things that she’s dealt with all her life is that she can’t go anywhere in Erogenia without being occasionally compared to Zonn, having to hear someone else’s personal experience with Zonn, how Zonn had a famous battle to save my auntie’s farm or our village back in the day, etc. Just a fact of life being the child of someone famous, regardless of your own accomplishments. Jane Fonda, Martin Sheen or Michael Douglas could tell you a thing or two about that.
Lora - It’s the after party. And, as usual, the angle makes him look a bit closer to the flames than he is. He is actually leaning back on his elbow, cushioned by the pelt underneath, not leaning against the bars.
Kosetsu - This is the full page 360! We’re going twice a week again. And I don’t know about these days, but you used to be able to get something pretty similar at the Ren Faire …
Jason - Well, we’ll be trying to get Friday up on Friday. That will be nice. And if it’s your B-day, happy B-day!
Hwyla - I think I agree with you. Talking harps have a tendency to tell the truth about murders and crimes and things. In Erogenia the truth wouldn’t be so much of a problem, though in Kivalia it would be trouble all right.
firegoat - Hwæt! We Gardena in geardagum,
þeodcyninga, þrym gefrunon,
hu ða æþelingas ellen fremedon.
warnie - And background as well. Also, just to point out that there is no TV or internet here, and this is the way they entertain the masses.

I must say i were abit confused by this one.
Had to give Zona and Mentl an extra look before i figured out who is who and what is what.
Good job once again JED! (But really, who’d expected otherwise?)

Lovely page. Wish there were more story though. Like reactions…
I like the poem, although…
Lines 8 and 10 aren’t iambic and thus sound kinda odd. Breaks the meter of the song.

love the laid-back scene after the dance, before the retire to bed interval.
I added a comment on your comics links post, I’ll be back later to check those out more.

Dragonson - Must be the low lighting. Very romantical atmosphere.
Moox, - Adding reactions would have meant adding panels, which I will be doing tonight. I’d actually thought of that, but this image was already several layers and fighting Poser made me very tired. Also, occasionally I just like the large single page image. As to the meter of the poem, Line 8 should scan
“He liv’ing or’ dead com’ pny keeps’ ” Suppose I should have actually written it that way, but if you say it aloud, it makes more sense. Line 10 I don’t get what you’re saying:
“And great’ Zonn pas’ses from’ our tales’” is an exact quadrameter foot with no need for any cheating. In any case, hope you enjoy tonight’s update - it continues this scene for just a little bit.
Karyl - Yes, frequently the after party is better even than the first one.
May 7th, 2010 at 2:39 pm
JE- Actually it’s Saturday, so since the page isn’t up yet (and I’m ahead of you anyway) I’ll check in the morn!
May 7th, 2010 at 4:35 pm
I’m going on a cruise up the Alaska inside passage this next week. Not sure how much internet access I’ll have. *wibbles…sniffles* I’m gonna miss Zona if I can’t read it! *waaaahs!*
May 8th, 2010 at 7:06 am
But think about all the updates you’ll come back to.
Both here and other places.
May 8th, 2010 at 10:34 am
I sense a Dadquest coming soon.
