This sketch is done, you must know, under the slight disadvantage of having a 16 pound cat in the artist’s lap virtually the entire time due to the fact that His Majesty will NOT shut up or be happy this evening unless he is there and absolutely nowhere else. Try using a graphics tablet under those conditions, I dare ya.
April 13th, 2010 at 10:48 pm
Lol-I have 3 cats of my own plus one that a “friend” dropped off on our doorstep for “just a few days” six months ago. Now the little psyco kitty has kittens. They hadn’t fixed her either….
April 13th, 2010 at 11:34 pm
is that a scar on her stomach or just a shadow?
April 13th, 2010 at 11:42 pm
That smile looks almost evil
April 13th, 2010 at 11:52 pm
Huh. My Lord Cat chooses to help me type. He is also a bruiser at about 18 lb of real muscle, not fat. It’s kind of exciting when he chooses to jump onto the back of my desk chair without warning. Had to scrape me off the ceiling once when he missed.
April 13th, 2010 at 11:55 pm
So, Professor, at what point do you decide that Psycho Kitty is now your cat and do the job yourself?

“Rrrrawrrr” ~Zona to Mentl
April 14th, 2010 at 3:27 am
This will be the first time “i think” that i will come with some critisism. The teeth looks a little “off”, like a grin from a hungry bear. Not that zona isn’t “hungry” or big like one, but still… However i do like the twisting of the body!
April 14th, 2010 at 6:01 am
Grem, see my comment. I’ve done those teeth before. Wasn’t my most flattering photo, I’ll admit, but when seen in motion, not as a still, it’s sexeh. (Or so I was told. He didn’t say much more–well, of the sorts of things one could repeat in polite, PG-13 rated company.) I think it’s in character for her. She kinda seems like a playful biter to me.
Poor Mentl. Poor, happy, nibbled-to-little-death Mentl. *plays miniscule violin…*

Raven,
1.) It’s expensive. Vets charge through the nose.
2.) Doing surgery of any kind (except the life saving variety) without the legal owner’s consent can lead to a big world of problems. Unless the legal owner of “psycho kitty” signs her over or sufficient time has passed that the cat can be considered “abandoned,” it’s a good idea for Professor to do nothing except give her food, water and the necessities of life while trying to reach the owner.

One thing to say here:
Nice air ^w^
April 14th, 2010 at 9:51 am
The phrase “hungry predator’ comes to mind when I look at her. I’m not sure sultry eyes and a big smile go together though. Can real muscles do that? The pose is hot though.
April 14th, 2010 at 6:40 pm
This time, my conscience and my rationale can only bring out one response.
“Heh. I see nipples.”
April 14th, 2010 at 8:07 pm
Some one is about to get everything thats coming to him in the best way possible

Zona Pounce!
April 15th, 2010 at 2:03 am
not to be over critical but there is something about her left leg that bothers me, between the position and general shape around the knee it just doesn’t seem right. And it may just be me but it seems her left leg is much larger than the other leg, I know one is forward and one is back but still even with the skewed position the legs don’t seem balanced properly, like her hips are broken. Anyone else?
April 15th, 2010 at 3:42 am
Since I am so fond of putting words behind looks I’m going to get wordy here.
“There is no escape for you now Mentle. Your mother may have warned you about when a woman REALLY wants a man. But nothing she said could have prepared you for ME!!!!.”
By the way Draft have Zona’s hear always been that long?
April 15th, 2010 at 5:25 am
Hmm, Airborne? (Where are her feet?)
Stroke? (Odd face)
Wondering if she is under a spell at this point, or if the fire exploded and she is being blown upwards.
April 15th, 2010 at 5:26 am
PS My cat loves the pic… she is watching it as I type.
April 15th, 2010 at 7:59 am
Gotta say I don’t have a problem with her ’smile’ - it has quite the ‘leer’ to it. Almost a ‘feral’ quality. I didn’t really think predator-bite, but most certainly wild-animal-sex-to-come.
And we should hardly be surprised with her jumping above the fire - not after he jump in the swordplay up onto the top of the columns.
But she sure is flexible to get her feet back like that - especially considering her muscles. But then, she’s young - the young ARE much more flexible than I.

ZONA HAI!
April 15th, 2010 at 2:34 pm
Professor 61771 - So, this morning I am going about my usual routine - Clean cat box. Got it. Turn on water. Right. Brush teeth while water heats up. Check. Get in shower. Take usual hot shower to get ready to be late for work. Yep. Dream little shower daydreams, not really too focused or awake. Turn off the water, pull curtain aside and -
MOWWW!
Huge frigging black cat on toilet, inches away from my exposed best friends, hollers at me in the echo chamber that is my little bathroom. So naked little middle-aged man startled out of his tiny mind does wet-spraying dance of flailing and nearly kills himself.
Stoopid cat.
Grey - Pretty sure it’s a shadow.
dalewake - Depends on your definition of “evil.”
SamuraiDemonPuppy - You have my sympathies. (see above anecdote.)
InquisitiveRaven - Heh. Easier said than done, as some have pointed out.
Jean - Indeed.
Gremalkin - Well, I liked it when I made it. Mind you, it’s not a big deal to redo it in case I change my mind.
Jean - As Vito once said, she’s a flailer and a screamer. The kind that can tear the wallpaper off the walls and bend brass headboards in her bare hands.
Uhl - Yeah, I’d find the “legal” owner first and make sure that there wasn’t any issue.
Sleepinin - Death by snu snu …
calisto - It’s out of context, perhaps, because the pose is really a capture of an actual dancer. also, the proportions are a little illusory thanks to the folds of the skirt.
dolo-pzora - “I had snu-snu!”
Speedhump - She’s not airborn. She’s actually on the ground. this is just one element to the final page that I rendered separately and put on a flamey-sparky background. That will certainly change in the final. Just to be clear, these last couple have been *sketches* for the final page. The first coulple of teasers were final posted renders. These are elements that may or may not be used in the final page.
Hwyla - She is, indeed, very flexible, athletic, and young. But you want to see really flexible to the point of not believing it? The Ross Sisters.

April 15th, 2010 at 5:10 pm
Ohhh, she’s on the >ground<… Now it makes perfect sense. Thanks for reminding us that these are sketches. Love the arc from back leg and hair up through her hands.
April 15th, 2010 at 10:41 pm
WOW!
April 16th, 2010 at 7:05 am
Okay, that flexibility was almost scary… o_O Total flexibility combined with great muscle control…
April 16th, 2010 at 7:46 am
Darn… i got Out-Ergonian’t by JED.
What a surprise. *cough* sarcasm. *cough*.
To maintain my viking honor i must defeat you in a duel to the death in the pit of obnoxious fire-breathing lizards! Prepare yourself!
April 16th, 2010 at 9:50 am
I can personally testify that it’s physically possible, but not easy. That variety of muscle isolation is something done frequently in bellydance, where you try to get your upper and lower halves doing something independently of each other. However, getting into that position isn’t as difficult as trying to breathe once you’re there. >.<
April 16th, 2010 at 7:45 pm
Sorry, Dragonson; the dragons aren’t in the pit. They’re on the other side of the fire, watching the girls dance through the shimmering veils of the flames. (Plus, they’re getting hungry. Gee, I wonder why?)
And Ami is quite correct. Position is possible, breathing problematical. (It has to do with the way the torso gets twisted, tightening the abdominal muscles.) Provided it’s a short stay, that pose isn’t too bad.
I think I know what bugs me about her left leg; the knee is incompletely rendered. But, as JED is right to point out, it’s a sketch. If this were being done in pencil on paper, we’d remember it’s a sketch much more easily, I think.
Nope, still voting for a “Rrrawrrr” from our heroine to our hero, with that sex-tigress look…
