   You and your teasers!

   RAAAAAAGH!

   Mentl looks like he’s getting a mighty pat on the back from Tula here… If someone where to start reading now, and then go back, they might suspect, at first, that Mentl and good old Red here would hook up.

   Honestly, I wonder how differently things would have turned out if Zona HAD waited for Tula…

   Well Mentl would be dead, cause Zona wasn’t there to save his arse…. or maybe she would be, since she’d be traveling on horseback, and wouldn’t have to hunt or forage, as much. (Presuming Tula suggests bringing supplies.)

   … Wow. Zona’s haste may have saved Mentl from becoming Urtt waste.

   Nice goofy grin on him, but please do something about his eyes and the ear.

   The eyes look almost blind, need somehow to be clearer. His ear needs more definition too. Tula´s looks much more natural.
   Though I guess you could get away with it, if it´s just a small part of a couple of bigger panels.

   AdamZero - Well, That’s the story as I wrote it, with all the last-moment rescue included. And you will, naturally see the rest of the dialogue on Friday.

   ttd - Thanks very much, I was generally pleased with it myself.

   hans- That’s just reflection of moonlight in his eyes. Used a different reflective texture on them with that result. I don’t think it looks as bad as all that. And those ears are the same ones he’s had since the beginning in 2005. As I’ve said repeatedly, I’m not a modeler, so there’s not a lot I can do about that. And, as I have put in the FAQ, Mentl is Michael 2, an earlier generation of DAZ’s human models, and so there is naturally more detail in Victoria 3, which I use for Tula and Zona. Michael and Victoria 4 have been out for some time, but I just haven’t been happy when I try to port the faces to them. It really is like casting a different actor. So, I am left dancing with the mesh I brought to the party, and with all its limitations, I’m pretty happy with it. It serves to tell the story.

   To be honest, Mentl’s ears kinda look like they suffer from “cauliflower ear” which boxers would get. If he was ever knocked around as a kid…that might be the result. A bully on the school grounds, and his only refuge was the music room during recess maybe? Or hiding out in the band room after school for an hour, so he could walk home without being tailed by the high school bullies?

   “Thank you, Tula.” That’s what I see in the teaser. That Mentl and Tual is happily content and have found some deaper understanding.

   I really like these close up teasers with no text in them.

   Couldn’t really guess what the test would be for this panel, but it really doesn’t matter. Whatever it is, it’s something positive, affirming and relationship building between Tula and Mentl. Like I said before, I’m quite sure Tula is fast becoming Mentl second biggest supporter in the tribe after Zona herself. This will be very important when their mother the Queen comes to Tula with worries about her sister being ensorcelled.

   Ipola’s going to have to do something pretty drastic to separate Zona and Mentl. If she somehow succeeds, Mentl can get with Karina and Larina (”I’ve never had twins!” - Page 3), then go back to Kivalia, fry Maldik, rescue Yanora, and settle in as her boy-toy/court mage/minstrel.
   But I don’t think Ipola can pry them apart, and she probably won’t want to after talking it all over.
   Oh Nutz! I foresee six months of installments on the Ipola Discussions About Mentl before we get back to hack-and-slash and Urtt gore and body parts….
   BTW JED, not to increase your workload or anything, but is there more than the one installment on “The King Is Dead”?

    I see we’re not to the dancing yet. augh! Not that I’m impatient or anything…
    I’m guessing it will be something like a belly dance, what with the ankle bells and all. Any other guesses?

    Nah, M2’s ears are okay, it’s just the combination of the texture and the light angle that’s making them look bad.

    Ears look fine to me. They’re just a bit oddly shaped. He’s not the handsomest guy around…just the nicest.
