If Boric is watching this little scene, he will be seriously upset.
Methinks Tula might be entering the throes of Sister-In-Law Syndrome. She knows better than anyone how devoted Mentl is to Zona, so there is no threat of a romantic entanglement if she (Tula) becomes friends with Mentl. This is probably the first time in her life that she could have a male friend of her own generation without said ‘friend’ chasing her (Tula’s) tail, chasing Zona’s tail (said tail being now firmly in Mentl’s possession), or trying to play tribal politics or seek Royal favors.
Mentl becomes a “safe” man for Tula to befriend, and like most royalty true uncomplicated friendship is VERY rare in the life of a beautiful princess.

I somehow don’t think she’d do anything that would upset Zona, given how much she loves her sister.

If she isn’t drunk she damn well should be! look at the size of that goblet! If it has anything in it that’s stronger than American beer it should be enough to floor her.

@Kaine: Remember, Tula’s Erogenian born and bred. She could probably drink anyone from our world WELL under the table. The contents of that goblet may floor us, but she’s probably just beginning to get a nice buzz on.

JED, just want to tell you I hope to teach an EXCO in the fall at Oberlin College that will be definitely looking at the world of Zona and all that takes place here. I hope that the college will provide books for the use of the class where appropriate–and maybe even some calendars.

Hugh, aside from the fact that I was quietly thinking how the inner curve of her breast looks quite lickable, no. I think we all respect Tula, and this moment of friendship between her and Mentl, too much to drool over her. At least, overtly. Maybe.

I seriously doubt Tula’s never gotten drunk drunk, and of course she’s paid for it in the morning. As a priestess I bet one of the the lessons includes understanding how much ‘libation’ your body can take without losing balance.
Me? I’d just ask for water and razberry juice. I party sober, so every memory sticks…

It’s nice to think the way Mentl talks to girls he likes would win her respect and affection. IRL a girl would think “Creep’s trying to get into my pants”. Thank God for fantasy, where we can still cling to the romantic notion that chivalry and kindly expressing sentiment can win a girl’s heart. It’s a nice escape from the harshness of reality.

Aww, Matthew, it’s not that bad. I’m a sucker for chivalry and sentiment, there are nice guys everywhere! (Of course, IRL unfortunately the guy can ruin it by trying to put his arm around my body 45 seconds later….) Seriously though, romantics abound.
Also, I actually like the shadows on the teeth. The teeth gaps plus the braids make Tula look a little more little-sistery than the responsible woman in charge of everything all the time. It’s so cute!

This is where all the people who’ve read too many books in their spare time think: “OOH SHIT! Now it’s all gonna crumble and the heroes are gonna split up and somebody’s gonna DIIIIE!”
Actually most of us does it in hopes of the story going exactly the other way, but nevermind that.

And she does look absolutely stunning in the panel.
(I’ll agree though that it actually looks like her breasts did grow a cupsize

*dam* tula’s top another great example of how just a little bit of clothing can significantly attractiveness. How I wish something like that would work in the real world. I would have to wear sunglasses every day of the year night and day.

Nope, they didn’t grow. You’re just used to seeing them covered over, with no cleavage defining their actual size. Once you cover up both breasts with a single piece of fabric, it diminishes their size. (Unless you’re offering them on a platter…er, I mean, in a well-laced corset. But even then…)

Anything stronger than american beer would put her under the table? Are you kidding? I don’t see how american beer would put anyone under the table(so yeah, it’d sure as hell have to be stronger) before they were at puking level…to be quite honest, I don’t know why anyone would drink it in the first place. Anyway, rant on pisswater aside, I reckon over the space of a few hours, that goblet could be filled with port or strong spirits and she’d be on her feet, if wobbly. She’s Erogenian, and I imagine that comes with a tolerance for alcohol akin to someone with irish heritage and a considerable heft to them to boot. Sorry, I try not to laugh when anyone mentions american beer and getting drunk in the same sentence, regardless of context.
Anyways…I would of course not know anything about consuming large quantities of spirits and never passing out as that of course would put my liver and pancreas under strain and I’d never do that. Nope. Besides, it’s much more fun to stay mostly sober and watch my husband get mostly drunk on one beer.

Of course all the major breweries are watery(though not in comparison to Japanese beer). Try microbrews! Come to Wisconsin and try Capitol Brewery, Leinenkugel’s, Water Street, Spotted Cow …
