March 9th, 2010 at 3:20 am
And thus Yatta-ta became a legend.
March 9th, 2010 at 3:44 am
Yatta-ta? Prince Mishkin?
Ze plod sickens…. Er, THickens…
March 9th, 2010 at 5:44 am
LOL! I wanted to vote AGAIN after reading that.
And Yatta-ta is a prince, hmm? Interesting.
Somehow I don’t think Yatta-ta ever wants to go back to Kivalia now.

L O L !
March 9th, 2010 at 7:52 am
I’m going out on a limb here, JD, but did you lift the “Prince Myshkin” from “The Producers”? I know that Nathan Lane uses that line in the first part of the movie when Bloom asks him something annoying…
March 9th, 2010 at 8:31 am
Heh, my first thought was, “Yes, Yatta, we ALL love this place.”
Love it! Thanks for the smile JED.
March 9th, 2010 at 9:58 am
The Raven - Yup.
dolo-pzora - Other than in his own mind, you mean.
Sarge - Lemme `splain. See below.
Lora - No, Yatta-Ta is not a prince. See below. And no, at the moment he don’t wanna go home.
hans -
The Origami Guy - Bingo. Though it has double meaning. First, Mentl cribbed the line from the original “The Producers” with Zero Mostel, not the (to me) disappointing and largely boring and forced knock-off musical with Nathan Lane. But Mostel’s Max Byalistok was referring to the title character in Dostoevsky’s “The Idiot.” Myshkin ( I spelled it wrong) is a hopelessly naive and well-intentioned man with no education at all. His actions of intended good will and charity often have very negative results And, to me, this seems appropriate to Yatta-Ta.
Lebbrin- Well, who wouldn’t? Yer welcome.
March 9th, 2010 at 10:26 am
Well read or likes old russian films… wow.
March 9th, 2010 at 3:09 pm
Hahahaha YES!
Was I the only one who got it on the first read-through?
Hilarious incentive, JED.
Moox
March 9th, 2010 at 3:12 pm
Deris - He likes old Mel Brooks movies, actually. Though he did find the cliff notes of “The Idiot” in a pile of old books on the sidewalk once, and he read through it.
Moox - Thank you.
March 9th, 2010 at 4:24 pm
Ooh, Yatta-ta is so CUUUTE! (physically, without his shirt; mentally, without his brain) I just want to take him on home and “train him up right” as they say in the South…
March 9th, 2010 at 6:52 pm
Does this mean we get to keep him around?
March 9th, 2010 at 7:39 pm
simply put… HAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!! awesome JE, just awesome.
March 9th, 2010 at 9:30 pm
@JED - STILL Brook’s best work ‘tho parts of Silent Movie are amazing. Great Incentive! * giggles *
@Jean - Judging from my wife, Southern trainin’ did right by me. But foolishly, when have we seen Yatta-Ta WITH his brain?
March 9th, 2010 at 10:18 pm
Best vote incentive ever.
March 10th, 2010 at 12:09 am
Damn, John, if you’d have spelled MYSHKIN correctly I would have gotten it!!
I thought it was some literary reference but “Mishkin” threw me off.
If you are going to be super subtle, get it right plrase.
BTW, love the update. Hell, I love everything about this place.
March 10th, 2010 at 6:59 am
Yeah, for Mel Brooks.
Does this mean we’ll get treated to a ‘Men in tights’ reference sometime?
I does love the little references, even when I don’t get them.
March 10th, 2010 at 12:11 pm
Jean - Actually, Sheahla is training him up, right now. And Eria. And Karina and Larina, and …
ChibiMitzi - Yes. I have some plans for Yatta-Ta that involve him continuing to associate with Zona and Co.
ICEKAT - Thanks. We aim to please.
ICWT - In order of awsomosity: “The Producers,” “Young Frankenstein,” “Blazing Saddles,” “The Twelve Chairs,” “High Anxiety,” “Silent Movie,” and the rest are not worth mentioning, alas.
Someguy - Thanks. Yeah, I like the way it came out.
Sarge - Oh, it was the SPELLING that threw you off. I understand. Well, I fixed it, so now you have no excuse.
Lora - Maybe, maybe not. It was one of his more embarassing efforts at cinema, frankly. Still, we’re glad you’re pleased.
March 10th, 2010 at 2:58 pm
Three things one, who is Eria, two, I’ve never seen twelve chairs I’ll have to check it out, three, shame on you space balls was awesome.
March 10th, 2010 at 3:17 pm
Someguy - DEFINTITELY check out “Twelve Chairs.” Ron Moody and Frank Langella. Brooks remakes a Russian classic movie about post-Revolution era Russia, where Moody is a broken-down half-crazed nobleman searching for the fortune his mother hid in one of a set of twelve antique chairs. Langella is the dashing ne’er-do-well who takes him under his wing and they search for the jewels from Georgia to Siberia, chased by Dom Delouise as a fallen Orthodox priest, also bent on getting the dough. It is hysterical, at times moving, and just outstanding storytelling. “Spaceballs,” alas, not so much. I realize there were a few funny gags and scenes in it, but the layer of awesome is pretty thin and flakes off pretty easily. IMHO.
Eria is Sheahla’s friend the blonde, mentioned on page 343. We have not seen her, but you may take my word that she is double-dipped in awesome sauce.
March 10th, 2010 at 8:05 pm
Hmm, I take back what I said about burning that awful vest. *Much* better.
March 10th, 2010 at 9:23 pm
OK, I have to ask, I didn’t want to, I tried not to. . . . .
What is Mentl wearing?
March 11th, 2010 at 1:31 pm
Elizabeth - Ah - so it was the SHIRT that was REALLY awful, eh?
MaryLynne - It’s a fur cape that has a hole in the middle for your head. Basically a poncho made of giant ground sloth skin.
March 11th, 2010 at 5:52 pm
JED, Yes, indeed. Now that the shirt is gone, the chest I mean the vest, looks impressive.
March 11th, 2010 at 9:30 pm
bloody funny man!
March 12th, 2010 at 12:00 am
What Elizabeth said.
(Love the chest hairs!)
March 13th, 2010 at 12:53 am
Every time I vote I laugh again. What a perfect page!
