Here is the teaser from Page 351. Making progress on the book and hope to have a couple pages of HIMYF this week.

    IS THAT TULA?!

    March 3rd, 2010 at 1:11 am

    I do believe it is.

    just smirks !!! BIG TIME!!!!

I could see Mentl getting advice from Tula about whether or not he should play for the First Dance, and what he should play. Just no Great Balls of Fire please.

  5. Wolfgang
    March 3rd, 2010 at 1:37 am

Why no Great Balls of Fire? That’d be pretty interesting as long as he didn’t aim them at anyone. Though I guess there are more interesting things he can play.

The moonlight on Mentl’s chest and the firelight on Tula’s hair and face! Wow.

Yesss, yesss! Smart boy gets good advise from wise girl! (Before she gets completely plastered, because, my, that’s a large goblet, lol…)

    March 3rd, 2010 at 1:54 am

@Wolfgang: with Mentl’s lack of control, being behind him for Great Balls of Fire is only marginally safer than being in front of him. Besides, if he makes a big enough explosion, where you’re standing becomes a rather moot point - and so does where he aims.

Okay, voting time: Who wants to help Tula scritchie that big, cuddly-looking saber-toothed kitty??

    –I do!!

  10. Raoul
    March 3rd, 2010 at 2:16 am

I’d need a couple of those goblets full, first.

    March 3rd, 2010 at 6:37 am

Not me. That big critter looks like it’d take an arm off if it didn’t want your scritchies.

  12. Aust
    March 3rd, 2010 at 7:54 am

Yeah, but he’s just a big ole house kitty at heart. Remember, he’s domesticated, so he’d probably let you know before hand if he didn’t want some pettins. Ya know, before he TOOK your hand, lulz.

Of course, sometimes my cats claw me in the leg when they want me to drop a bite of my dinner for them. I can’t imagine how THAT would go with one that big.

Also, yay Mentl! Getting advice is definitely a good thing. Hopefully he can have some fun at this dance without, you know, ending up in a ‘death by nookie’ situation.

It would be nice to find someone who has a sewing machine to make some clothes in that style. How hard could it be, it isn’t like you need a lot of fabric…

    Schwiiing!

I like what everyone’s done. @ Doc Alaska-I had the same reaction in the first panel of “Zona is looking for her bells” set. I practically didn’t recognize her until the second or third panel. I did know it was her when she started tossing things around impatiently.

Tula looks gorgeous, Mentl looks awesome, and kitteh..is mrrrring. ^_^

  16. Kamatu
    March 3rd, 2010 at 9:46 am

@reddwarf: I don’t think Mentl is going to be that out of control again. He at least appears to learned to temper it some, as long as he has time to think about it.

Then if a million screaming critters are charging Zona again, Mentl might be allowed to indulge his out of control tendencies…

  17. Merlin Blackheart
    March 3rd, 2010 at 9:54 am

@Calisto - sometimes it’s not a matter of the fabric, the world that Mentl’s found himself on has to have lower gravity or something because I know I would be having trouble keeping some of the clothes we’ve seen on, darn gravity!

  18. Lora
    March 3rd, 2010 at 4:19 pm

Wow, looking good there, Tula. :D

And I think I wouldn’t mind scratching that little cat…

  19. calisto
    March 3rd, 2010 at 7:27 pm

@merlin - I would love to see you try though ;)

  20. Ted
    March 3rd, 2010 at 9:10 pm

…you can see the cat’s -whiskers-! Seriously, I am always amazed at the detail. Like the carving on that chair, and the bowl o fire stand. Rock on JED.

  21. Gremalkin
    March 4th, 2010 at 4:54 am

I agree with you Ted. Jed’s eye of detail is one of the things i enjoy about this comic. It may not update as often as other web comics, but in exchange we get unsurpassed quality. And that in it selfe is a breath of fresh air ! In the words of Ted the mighty: Rock on JED ! /hug !

I like the “lighter gravity” theory. A lot. As a 35G with serious chronic back pains, can I pretty please move there, if it’s true??

How abou Gene Krupas part of “Sing Sing Sing ” Mentl shouldnt cause any harm with that one

I can see why Tula gets such a roaring reception when she arrives.

Now, if you’ll excuse me. *joins the drooling horde*

  25. John
    March 4th, 2010 at 3:54 pm

Doc Alaska - Yes, it is.

    warnie - Yes, it is. :}

reddwarf - No, I can tell you right now, there’s no great balls. Of fire, anyway. :)

Wolfgang - There’s other things he’s interested in at the moment, yes.

Elizabeth - Yes, I thought that came out rather nice!

Jean - Hmm. I just thought of a joke: “A priestess and a rabbi walk into a bar …”

reddwarf - Maybe so. But didja notice that with all that heat down in the dungeon, none of the three even got singed? Interesting. :)

    Jean - P-Chan was my inspiration. :)

Raoul - Probably only one. Remember, Tula’s an Erogenian princess. Probably drink you and me under the table.

The MacNut - Jewel’s a member of the family and very smart. She knows who’s a friend and who isn’t. Remember when she first met Mentl she just thought he smelled a little funny, but didn’t even growl nasties at him. Now she’s very much a contented kitty.

Aust - Pretty much what I said, except Jewel’s a female. Did you notice her grabbing a chicken while nobody was looking on page 344? They don’t want a piece of your food - they want the whole steak, brother.

calisto - Hey - if you manage to make it, send pictures!

    hans - Quite.

Mish_lady - Thanks so much! It’s funny what a new hairstyle and clothes do. Because believe me, that is all that’s changed.

Kamatu - Well, we’ll see what goes as far as the dance is concerned. It’s not as if we’ve ever seen Mentl bang on a drum before, so all options are still on the table.

Merlin Blackheart - Ahhh … fantasy. Dontcha luvvit, dontcha luvvit, doooontcha just luvvit!

Lora - So long as one of the tribe introduced you, Jewel would love some scritches.

Ted - I thank you very much for the compliment, but remember that most of that visual detail is the work of other modellers whose products I’m incorporating into the overall picture I create. The chair is a free download I got many moons ago from Renderosity, (”Knight’s Chair”) but now the artist has pulled it, and I can no longer find any reference to it! I would very much like to give credit if I could, only I can’t remember the name. The Millenium Big Cat, whose whiskies you admired, is from Daz3D and is one of my favorites, incase you hadn’t noticed. That model was a collaborative effort of a number of artists named on the site: LisaB, Laurie S, Daniel Davis, Debra Ross, N0s4ra2 and Digiport Designs. It’s fabulous what can be done with it, just using the stock morphs and textures that come with it. I only craft a very few things myself, though I am now learning how to make clothing models in Poser so I can vary people’s wardrobe a bit. Not to take away from the work I do put into it, of course, I just think that I shouldn’t take credit for another artist’s creativity. Art thieves are douchebags.

Gremalkin - Thank you, Gremalkin. I will take credit for the overall design of the shot, the posing and acting through the characters, the lighting and the camerawork. Plus the breast obsession. I have to take credit for that. :D

Jean - Oh, your fantasies can move in with mine, dear. No problem. ;)

Stranger - If there are drum solos, then maybe.

    Sleepinin - Yep, she’s a hottie.

Ya know, if Mentl shaved off just the parts that connected mustache to bear, he’d be a dead ringer for Chad Kroeger, the lead singer for Nickelback. Ok, now seeing Zona dancing to “Into the Night”. Where’s Santana when you need him?

  27. Stormhawk
    March 4th, 2010 at 9:10 pm

Oops, should have said “beard”, not “bear”

  28. Stormhawk
    March 4th, 2010 at 9:15 pm

Imagine what Zona would do if he sang Never Gonna Be Alone for her? Or where those songs out post-transition to her verse?

  29. Aust
    March 5th, 2010 at 1:34 am

Ah, so that IS Jewel, and not some Random Sabertoothed hunting cat? Coolio.

Also, whether they want the whole steak or just a bite, I don’t think I want claws from a cat that big in my leg. Or any other part of me XD.
