Yatta’ta is confused and Mentl gives some ‘help’. Headslaps always works.(Just ask Gibbs).
Okay, it wasn’t a ful shot of Sheahla, but close. Nice to see she is carrying more than just her sword. Sensible woman.
And I think here’s enough material for three comic books. Tradepaperbacks are often around 100 pages(some more, some less).

Mentl can afford to mentor Yatta-ta, he HAS Zona - who recognizes that he is something special.
Ipola strikes me as a Wise Woman (Queens SHOULD be), and I bet (hope) she is saying to Zona, “Do NOT let this one get away!!”
Never mind Mentl can melt rock (an ability no queen would scorn) but she wants her daughter to be happy - and Zona, for all her prowess, is not especially happy.
BTW, for those who question Shehalha’s suspending her sword from a couple of thongs, that is a VERY wise method of carry; if she needs the sword she can speedily (like untying a bow knot?) jettison the scabbard. Trust me, one does NOT want to fight a serious engagement with a long scabbard bouncing around tangling your legs up. You can always recover the scabbard if you survive - and if you don’t it is ‘machts nichs.’

Oh, is that what those were - I thought she had on some more of that tight black material which magically curve right around those well-toned hips and thighs, except with leather accents or something.
Lemme tell ya though, Sheahla looks a lot less muscular from a distance! XD; You can’t see her muscles bulging under her skin in the first couple of pages she cameos in.

This may be girly of me, and that doesn’t happen that often, but I WANT HER OUTFIT! Only with big shoulder straps as I do not have the pectorals to pull that off without some serious haulage. The belt buckles underbust…the embroidery-ey bits…*sigh* ’s pretty…
Then the real question is whether one wants the clothes for oneself, or the woman therein. Hmm. Bit tall for my tastes, but you go Yatta!

Yatta’s reaction here is the first sign of “normal” we’ve seen from him.
1.) He’s not Erogenian, so he doesn’t know the rules.
2.) Anywhere else, this is usually a trap because outside of Erogenia, women tend not to be that forward for many reasons, some good, some bad. This is especially true when the woman in question is “a knock out,” a term that is very apt for this red head.
3.) He’s had a drink that’s a wee bit too strong for him and is not quite sure that what he’s hearing is correct.
4.) I would think this lady would be more than enough for anyone, especially someone that needs to be carried to the bed.
Btw, love that “PAF” sound.

Hehe. I think he’s going to get his Kivalian self unbent in several directions over the course of the next couple of hours. And yes, I think most of us knew that Mentl was going to have to do exactly what he did to Yatta.
As for our beautiful redhead…I would also need something beyond what looks like two belts holding up her “twins.” Although most Ergonians are bigger than average for the rest of the world (as far as I’ve seen) I still like to know that there’s more for me. *shrugs*
And I agree that it is probably time for a heart to heart with Mentl and Ipola. One knows that Ipola is close to her daughters, and who knows how long she and Zona have been talking. So she will probably want some time alone with Mentl both as a queen and as a mother. As someone pointed out, the ability to melt rock is a good one, and will most likely come out in private at least.
I would totally buy this if it were in book form!! And JED, it would help with financial stuffs. I know not at first, but with the comments that the past few pages have solicited-close to a hundred-suggest that even if some of them are multiple posts, you have a serious following.
75 to 100 comments times 7 to 10 dollars for a comic book (if I am correct, most normal written books can be 7 to 20 dollars, and manga can start in the range of 15 dollars for a normal sized manga book)…anywhere from 525 to 1000 dollars for a set of them being bought if not more considering the range I suggested…

I wonder if anyone has told Yatta about Mentl being an enchanter yet? I’m sure Ipola will want to be talking to Mentl quite soon, as I’m sure she’s noticed the effect he’s had on Zona, plus I’m sure Tula has tipped her off by now.

YES!! Way to go Mentl, setting Yatta’s drunk self straight! Boy is he in for one wild ride-and I’m pretty sure Eria’s gonna be the blonde gal in white who was also checking Yatta out during the duel.
I can understand Yatta’s hesitation though-as others have mentioned, he’s drunk and may not be sure he’s heard right, Kivalian ladies would not be that forward unless they’re either “ladies of the evening” or out to distract him while someone else does nefarious things to him (like rob him or slip a knife in his back).
So I can see why he’d hesitate, not knowing that when an Erogenian woman comes on to you, it’s because she wants sex and that’s all ;).

Kaila - Sheahla’s a good six feet tall. And you can see she wears her status as an Erogenian noblewoman all over her body. If you wanted her outfit, it would cost a pretty penny.

Wonderful, wonderful page.
We all knew Mentl was going to have to do that.
I just wonder when we’re going to see some of his hangups swinging into the fore again. I mean after all, there are some pretty serious differences in culture here. But then, his healthy relationship with Zona really helps smooth those things out.
But I definitely see a long discussion coming up with Zona about children (or lack thereof) which might get pretty tense. I doubt even Erogenians can handle that sort of thing too well.
Hmm, I am confused by the last panel. What is he thinking there? It seems like he’s appreciating Zona’s assets?

ARGH, Yatta-Ta was just a comic buffoon, now he is a mystery. He’s similar to Mentl in that he’s not had much luck with the ladies, impressed an Erogenian lady and is off to (we hope) learn quite a bit. Will he be transformed by his time with Sheahla, will he stop being a buffoon? Even if all his buffoonery were to fall away there still is the mystery of why he needed to challenge Zona, and who sent him to fight her? I have a feeling Vito might be in play here.
It’s all so mysterious, what will happen next?

Just as a side note, since zenopath’s two posts reminded me of it. I’m not sure if it is from actual Earth history, but this is the second culture I have come across that uses the torc as a status symbol. In Jacqueline Carey’s Kushiel novels, the fighters and nobles of the Dalraida wear torcs. They would be the equivalent of the Irish and Scottish fighters of Earth. I am not sure what the status is of the torc here, as I am not sure I remember Tula wearing one. That could be because of her devotion to the Moon Goddess, too. And yes, whatinthe, this is juvenile compared to what? There are a lot of rap songs and movies that are incredibly juvenile.

JOHN. Lovely work as always. The only thing missing from the YES was the exclamation point. I actually did this in my own wedding vows and I woke up the back row .
Can you also please address the point I raised last week about HAI being a battle proclamation like ‘Champion’ rather than a general exclamation? The only instances I found of it before Yatta-Ta were a few ZONA HAI’s and one AIIII EROGENIA HAI ! after the Urrt Battle.
@JEAN with the dirtier mind than mine, Very strategically placed bubble indeed, the poor man has so little blood left in his (big) head he is (at least) half bent-over! 1) We know Zona is 6′6″ since she said so. 2) Mentl is 5′6″ or less from several references.. 3) From p. 336 panel 5, we can see Shealah is at least 4 inches taller than Mentl, so estimate 5′10 to 6′0 (she has same boots throughout so not making distinction for the heels), 4) when standing toe-to-toe with Zona in p 337, panel 3. Yatta-Ta is at least 3 inches shorter than Zona, so he is 6′0 to 6′3,
5) and conclusion, for the relative heights on this page to work, Yatta-Ta is bent-over to conceal the state of his gentleman bits. Let’s not forget that for the last 30 seconds she has been leaning over his table and he’s been staring her right in the wholesome creamy goodness of her… torc, he probably was avoiding eye contact from her boldness and (very Yatta-Ta) compounded his state by trying not to look up at her.. He is not as pale or flushed as he should be, but that is most likely a Poser effect (or lack thereof).

Yatta-ta could have been bent over because of Sheahla dragging him off with him being drunk. If you look at the her body position in relation to Yatta-Ta, Sheahla appears to be in front of him. You combine that with his state of drunkenness and that could make him bent forward as he is trying to catch up and not fall over.
Just a different view point about his posture.

If he is, I hope he at least waits until Yatta-ta and, most importantly, Sheahla get out of earshot. Remember Mentl doesn’t have full control of his enchanter abilities yet so if he starts singing, well, let’s just say Zona could end up with a LOT of competition for his affections. Knowing the temperaments of Erogenian women in general, and Zona in particular, the competition could turn violent.
