And while I have your attention …

Posted by John at January 27th, 2010

It’s coming around that time where Uncle John is gonna hold out the begging bowl again.  I needs me some money to pay my debt management plan, and also to support my new family.

His name is P-Chan, a sixteen pound, nine year old rescued black domestic shorthair.   He’s an extreme talker and needs patience, but so far all I can determine is that the only thing he wants in the world is to be loved.  Naturally, this new responsibility comes with a modest increase in expenses.   And so, I ask for your generosity once again.

But - is this generosity expected to be unrewarded?  I say thee nay.

I am finished with the first half dozen pages of “How I Met Your Father,”  the flashback story of how Zona’s parents first met all them years ago.

I flatter myself that it’s fun, funny and fairly romantic.

And when the accumulated contributions top a measly one hundred dollahs, I will post them first six pages, and then when we gets another predetermined amount the next batch, and so forth until the ten or twelve pages are all up for you to enjoy.

My pledge is always that the main comic and content, including the Hot Stuff, is free to all.  But from time to time I need to defray my expenses and time as much as I can.

So there you have it!   Please contribute, and the Gods will make sure you never cut yourself with a razor in unmentionable places.  Guaranteed. :)

Wow, I look forward to seeing these. More Dukats coming your way.

Thanks for the work you put in to this. It really comes through on the page.

Curse my lack of employment. I would love to donate to this (and many other web comics) since I greatly enjoy reading it. However I don’t have a job and what money I do have is being used to get me back and forth from school.

My large black domestic shorthair, Puck, would like to contribute a little but it has to wait til next pay day. I told him if he earns anything in the interim we will do it sooner. He looked inscrutable and purred, which is his way.

Arg! I’m in the same group with Wolfgang. Time to go raid the long forgotten crevices of couches and dusty closets to find some change…If I don’t return, continue with the comic!

    All Hail Zona!

So let me make sure I got this straight, if I do somehow cut myself will I get a refund? :)
I would add how much I enjoy this comic but enough have said the same so I guess I won’t bother… wait I just did sort of… maybe not… sorry the hot stuff pages have me thinking other thoughts…

Lebbrin - Thanks for getting it off to a good start! A few more like that and ye shall have it!

Wolfgang - I’m not worth feeling guilty about, trust me. :) Of course if you want to feel a *little* guilty …

Alexandra Lynch - Give Puck my regards and thanks. P-Chan sends a lengthy polysyllabic, patience-straining comment, which is his way.

Ghost - If it’s me or Haiti - send it to Haiti. But if you can spare a couple bucks for me … ;)

calisto - Naturally if you cut yourself someplace unmentionable, you’ll get a refund. However, that would necessitate you *mentioning* it, wouldn’t it? Ahhhhhh…. =D And thanks for the nice comment.

Unmentionable Place? That’s Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch isn’t it?

Dropped a little in the collection bin. Hope it helps. You’ve darned well earned it.

I’m sorry to be obstreperous but I require view of what I’m paying for, the 9lb short hair not the comic please :)

So did you get the name ‘p-chan’ from the anime called “Pet shop of Horrors?”

Addup2 - Oh, and now you’ve just MENTIONED it!

The Old Hack - Everything is appreciated greatly! Thanks!

Madcap - Would you believe my camera died a couple weeks ago? I’ll see what I can do. And he’s *16* lbs. When that comes jumping up on the bed at 1AM- you know it.

Red Lexi - I did not name him. He has apparently been in a series of temporary homes, and at last came to my friend’s home. My friend (who is a wonderful person, I swear) leaves a message on the machine saying “Ah - we have this cat from a friend and Lisa’s violently allergic and so is Logan. So, if we don’t hear from you by tomorrow, he goes to the shelter..”

    GAAAAAH!!

So, now I have a middle-aged neurotic cat who doesn’t know how to shut up. At least he’s very sweet and affectionate, and if you hold him on your lap long enough and stroke him, he calms down and gives the old rumbly-umble.

Anyway, I think his name is actually “Pussy-Chan” or something, because at one point he was owned by someone Japanese. He’s quite handsome, but you have to take deep breaths sometimes to keep from screaming. :)

Congrats on the new kitty. I’m so happy you adopted an older black cat. Black cats get overlooked a lot in shelters because people are still superstitious (seriously).

Unfortunately I also will not be able to donate to the cause also due to unemployment. :( Will this be available for a while I would like to get it at a later date.

    Ducats headed your way.

…does anybody else find it amusing that the receipt reads ‘Barbarian PR’?

Okay, I just donated…did you get to the hundred mark yet?

BTW, congrats on the new kitty. ;-)

As usual, you guys have humbled me with your response. Yes, we’ve hit and exceeded the numbers, and as soon as I finish some fussy post-work and set up the pages, I will post the opening sequence of “How I Met Your Father.”

I thank you. P-Chan thanks you.

    Actually P-Chan says “mow-mow-mow-mow-mow-mow-mow-mow-mow-mow-mow-mow-mow-mow-mow-mow-mow-mow-mow-mow-mow-mow-mow-mow-mow-mow-mow …” >^oo^<

keep up the great art work, it is a pleasure to see a story that is developing with a lot of thought and attention to detail. As an artist my self (painting and sculptures) I know how much time it takes to do a really good job—such as the work you do. Hopefully my contribution can get P-chan a small fillet of fish?

Love the comic, and though you said you hit your requested numbers already figured I’d throw some more into the pot.
