Well, there you have it. As Blackadder said in "Back And Forth," "Rather a spectacular return to form after the genius moment. ..."

The next few pages are going to very talky. Talky-talky-talky! Hope you can savor the character-building. But as we speak, I am cooking up some fan service and extras for you.

Nick - Thanks a lot, of course! And we shall see what romantic success awaits for Ir Anis' favorite son.

Metroknight - Serrin's the wisest man in the Moon Tribe. He's also an old joker.

Jean - I don't know about "under his wing" per se, but he has taken a liking to him. He thinks Yatta-ta is a riot, and Serrin always loves a good laugh.

The Old Hack - An old vaudeville line. Just a little wit that no doubt sailed straight over Yatta-ta's head. And Yatta-ta's got an interesting background, only a little of which you shall see in the coming pages.

The MacNut - Well, if anyone can snatch defeat out of the jaws of victory - socially, that is - It would be Yatta-ta.

Retiarius - One thing about Erogenian culture is that there is a strong social sanction against head games and anything that smells of deception and lying. Playing frat tricks like you describe on anyone are, by their nature, built on taking advantage of someone by telling them something that isn't true. So, not even an asshole in Erogenia would do something like that to anyone who wasn't a blood enemy. If they don't like Yatta-ta, what they'd do to humiliate him would be to pick a fistfight, or a drinking contest, or some feat of strength or skill that they know he'll look bad at, up to and including sexual feats. Now, wouldn't that be fun for all concerned? :)

Gremalkin - Well, if he goes for Tula he's gonna have to get in line. As to bardic skill? Mmmm- possible. ;)

OddCodicologist - Well, we'll see how he handles the metheglin, but I don't think he'll be so sloppy that you can't understand what he says. I also don't think they're gonna tie Mentl to a tree after essentially giving him the key to the city. If they want him to shut up, Zona's got excellent ways to do that where he'll have no cause to complain. :)

Addup2 - There are blacksmiths and fishmongers. And fights are regular and recreational.

hans - It's a gift.

Sleepinin - "boot to the head!" :D

Professor 61771 - Yes - that's tomorrow's page. :)

Blues_diffuse - Yes, everybody's smiling. Time for the bomb to go off! The airplane explodes! The Martian tripods appear over the horizon! Dogs and cats living together!

Long Walk - He has a beard. He's a guy who has big pecs. And thanks very much. It's all about the story. And big boobs. Boooooooooobs ....

tricksterson - It's a lead pipe cinch that Yatta-ta of Ir Anis is going to get lit. Whether it turns him into Clark Bent or Superass you will see tomorrow.

Valashar - Go to the head of the class. I was wondering whether anyone would get that - and you guys never disappoint! =D My favorite movie of all time and still the best version of Robin Hood ever filmed.

zangoules - Thanks very much. And no, it isn't Aquaman. It's Oliver Queen on his day off. ;)

Jean - Right!

Mish_Lady - They did a great new DVD release a couple years ago. Struck from the original three-strip Technicolor prints, and digitally mastered. Sharper than I have ever seen it!

Elfguy - To paraphrase Ben Franklin, mead is proof that the gods love us ...

Ben - No, he's not. :)

A: It's just the way he's swinging his arm as he walks at that particular moment.
B: It would be a bit puerile to try to cop a feel after all that has just happened, and so far that doesn't seem to have been part of Yatta-ta's particular childishness.
C: If it *were* to happen, Zona would assume at this point it was an accident and do nothing. If it were to happen *again,* I'm thinking a reeeeelly painful finger-lock to balance the cha.

taltamir - Thanks! It just takes a little attention and patience.

tricksterson - It's certain that Tethik has been with at least one woman - his lady wife, Countess Marichina. She's back at Dell Keep, and the two are friendly and do their duty by each other, but so far no legitimate heir.

nusigf - Excellent summary, thank you! I myself have brewed a metheglin with cinnamon and cloves. Also, one year I made a cyser that kicked my ass completely and painfully. That was a New Year's to remember.

Shyster - As The Old Hack says a bit further down, Yatta-ta swore "on my father's soul," which is suggestive, but not definitive. As to a Yatta-ta/Ginsha romance? Well, there's a picture for the Hot Stuff page, eh? =O

God - I think so. Cider and metheglin are my favorites, apart from Rum.

reddwarf - Serrin's being avuncular, something he excells at. :)

MaxBigfoot - Well, he does get serious once the swashbuckling begins ...

I'm kind of leaning towards the pompous ass being a facade theory myself, now. Since Yatta-ta really is a great swordsman, I can't imagine him getting those skills on his own. He had to have had great teachers, and I can't believe he'd be able to run that personality in front of some real swordmasters as a pupil without getting his ass kicked multiple times, or kicked right out of the school. Either way, I don't think he'd be able to keep that personality, he'd have to learn a more sensible one.

@Shyster: Yatta swore on his father's soul. While this does sound rather portentous and could lead one to think that the poor man may be dead, it isn't quite conclusive, I think.

Oooh - and even though this is way "out where the buses run" as Mentl says, wouldn't it be cool if Ginsh is still alive (doubtful at best) and has been trying to track down her "Master" and somehow ended up hooking up with Yatta? They could be adorably damaged together.

Well maybe that's just my twisted mind at work again.

I agree with Tricksterson that there might be some connection between Yatta and Tethik. But didn't he swear on his fathers grave or something earlier? I think he said his dad is dead earlier someplace.
