September Calendar UP!

Wednesday, September 2nd, 2009

I got inspired, a bit.  Funnily and appropriately enough, by a song.  It’s by a band named Space and it’s called “The Female Of The Species” and it’s pretty awesome.   So, for the last four calendars of the year I will concentrate on a female character in the pantheon, with that theme.  For those of you unfamiliar with the song, here it is on YouTube:

I know a couple of you miss Ginsha.  I imagine this as the first moments of privacy she had when she was first enjoying her new status and her first true possessions, when she first allowed herself the luxury of having a self-image.

Labor Day F–king Off Means Tuesday Night Update

Monday, September 7th, 2009

Not gonna lie to ya, guys.  It was holiday hoo-hah that delayed this one - not completely, also ran into some issues designing the next reveal, plus day job turned into midnight pager tech supporting Singapore installation job till the wee-bitching hours.

Should be up tomorrow evening, and hope you’re not too disappopointed in the results.  :)

Going To Pismo Beach

Friday, September 11th, 2009

No, I’m not kidding.   I am taking a vacation for a week.   And I am, indeed, going to Pismo.

The non-Californios among you may think that Pismo Beach was a joke made up by Warner Brothers as an adjunct to “Anaheim, Azusa and Cu-camonga,” but I assure you it is a real place, and wonderfully picturesque, quiet, historical and beautiful.  Up until Malibu began to be fashionable, it was THE place for California Beach culture.  And it still has a very respectable tourist draw, especially in the Summer months.  (And, BTW, Anaheim, Azusa and Cucamonga are also real places I’ve been to.)

I need a break.  And nine days in a row starting tomorrow, I am taking it.  I will not be updating the comic for at least a week, maybe more.

BUT -

I will, before I go, give you all a little present.  Not saying what it is, but the usual Tuesday update will be something else, and I hope you enjoy it.  Meantime, I will be taking my laptop with my broadband modem and I will from time to time answer or post or generally drunkenly type some random shit that you can blackmail me with in my twilight years.  I mean, I plan to die rich, but right now I am so far in debt that I would laugh in the face of anyone who tried to squeeze a dime out of me.

Anyway, I haven’t had a proper vacation since the England trip in `07 (which is one of the reasons I’m still so badly in debt)  and so I am getting away from the pager, the endless trouble tickets from IBM and Singapore and all and am going to sleep until noon with the sound of waves and sea breezes nearby.

Love to you all!

The King Is Dead, Part 2

Monday, September 14th, 2009

It’s been a long time, but the promised second bit of this little story is now up.  For those who missed the first one, it’s here:

PART ONE

The continuation is here:

PART TWO

Got the tent set up, burnt some marshmallows and all is lovely and comfortable.  Tomorrow we go to the beach.  Pictures I will take, and if they’re good I’ll post them.   I am actually beginning to relax!

We’re back.

Sunday, September 20th, 2009

Had an extremely restful and rejuvinating week in Pismo.  Slept a lot, walked a lot and lost two pounds, believe it or not.

Went to Port San Luis pier, which is apparently *the* place to hang if you’re a brown pelican.

Biggest fucking birds I’ve ever seen - at least that I’ve been that close to.  Also, it’s a pretty cool hangout for California Sea Lions.

I guess somebody left the gate open last night.  Ooops.

Anyway, I shall get back to work, and on Tuesday I promise that we will return to Zona and Mentl, etc with a new post.

Cheers and hails!
