Aha, now we see how these politics play out for a bit.
May 1st, 2009 at 1:30 am
He doesn’t seem like the kind of guy you’d meet around royalty…
I’m excited to see how this plays out!
May 1st, 2009 at 2:55 am
Ah, and so we see the wretched hive of scum and villainy.
We must be cautious.

…Ackaphhht.

I am very pleased to see him back. Even if he does look like hell warmed up.

Ladies and gentlemen, introducing Morcai. He’s someone only a mother could barely tolerate, but apparently Tethik has some use or other for him. You’ll see what that is soon.
May 1st, 2009 at 12:08 pm
I have the feeling that Morcai is one of those people who is like a latrine: Noone likes to talk about them but sooner or later everyone uses them.
May 1st, 2009 at 12:15 pm
Oh, he has a certain roguish charm, doesn’t he?
He keeps his dagger in his hand at all times? That seems tiresome…
May 1st, 2009 at 2:05 pm
Well, Stig, If I were in a place like that and looked like I might have a copper or to in me purse, I’d keep a blade handy too.
I’m glad to see Tethik made it out of the castle. This ought to get interesting very soon.

Tricksterson, Perhaps. He might not find the simile flattering, even if apt.
Stig, Oh, yah, he’s a babe magnet. And he happens to be eating. In the first panel indoors, you see him in the background putting a piece of the huge, suspicious-looking sausage in his mouth via his dag.
Lebbrin: Think so? I think they’re just gonna have a drink and talk over old times, meself, but what do I know.

So I’ve gotta ask-
Morcai’s speech patterns sound similar to a character from a series of comics that I’m particularly fond of. Did you ever read the “Preacher” series from DC/Vertigo? He’s got the same accent as Cassidy (kinda).
May 4th, 2009 at 3:53 pm
Ramsay “RC” Cowlishaw, The pattern for Morcai’s speech is personal experience - an Englishman I used to work with. Londoner who was East Indian extraction, but you’d never know it. Drove me nuts with his ending practically every sentence with “yeh?” But naturally, when one wants to create a character who’s a bit odd and out of the mainstream, you use something you know that’s memorable. Haven’t read “Preacher,” actually.

Great writing in this one. The description and the characterizations are vivid and fascinating.
The art leaves something to be desired, this time. Several of the poses are awkward or stiff, and the dagger is especially MS Paint-looking.
Thanks for a dramatic update though! I’m on fire to read the next one.
May 6th, 2009 at 2:03 am
Oh man, I’d probably drive you nuts JE if you had to talk to me in person. I end every other sentence with “eh” in true Canadian fashion.
Okay, I’m better than I used to be, but when I’m tired…eh?
